Rajiv Gandhi Institute Of Technology (RIT) Kottayam

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology which is a Govt. College started its journey in the year 1991. The Govt of Kerala laid the foundation stone of it with an objective of making it a Centre of Postgraduate and research Studies and it was named after the former Prime Minister of India Mr Rajiv Gandhi. It is affiliated by AICTE, KTU, Mahatma Gandhi University.

It is situated in Kottayam, Kerala and covers quite a large area of 87 acres. It provides hostel facility, gym, library, sports, cafeteria conference hall seminar hall, auditorium etc to its students. There is an ATM on the campus. Apart from these, it also provides shuttle services to its students and staffs.

This institute offers B.Tech and M.Tech in various discipline of engineering like Civil, Architecture, Mechanical, etc. It also provides MCA programmes. Moreover, There is a scope for PhD in Electrical engineering and Civil engineering.

KEAM is the gate pass for BTech programmes while GATE is for MTech admission. For MCA admission, there is a separate entrance test.

Hostel and Facilities

Hostel

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology has separate in-campus hostels for boys and girls. There are 2 hostels for girls with capacity of housing over 280 students. There is one hostel for boys with student intake capacity of 107 as well as a separate PG hostel also within campus.

There is a separate canteen in the hostel. The students are under the supervision of Warden who are responsible for the welfare and safety of the students.

The hostels have strict security measures and guests are allowed only with prior permission.

Other Facilities

The institute has other facilities such as – well equipped laboratories and workshops, fully stocked library, cafeteria, auditorium, seminar halls and a computer centre with 24 hours internet access.

There is efficient transport services available as well as a 3 storied indoor games complex. The ground floor houses the multipurpose gym and fitness centre. The first floor has the table tennis hall while the second floor is used for carom and chess.

Moreover there is a well-built basketball court, volleyball court and provisions to play cricket, football, throw ball and take part in athletics.
