Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College(Formerly, Bhagalpur Medical College Bhagalpur) was founded in the year 1970 under the management of Dept. of Health, Medical education and F.W, Govt. of Bihar. The college is affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna (Formerly to Tilkamanjhi Bhagalpur university, Bhagalpur).100 students are admitted annually before 31st July and classes are taken from 1st August. The process of admission is completed on or before 30th September every year.Till Now Admissions are done by selection of candidates through combined medical Entrance examination test, which is common to all medical colleges of the state. I. Sc. (PCB) or equivalent qualifying is the minimum requirement for appearing in the Entrance Examination.The qualifying percentage of marks in the aforesaid examination is 50% for general, backward and women. Whereas it is 40% for S.C and S.T category candidates.The courses of study and the examination system, as proscribed by the university to which the college is affiliated is broadly in conformity with the recommendations of the Medical Council of India, New Delhi.Examination : The college follows Semester system of examinations, each semester being of six months duration. Thus, there are nine semesters all together in 4.5 years duration MBBS Course. Four University Examination are held and successful candidates are allowed to undergo internship training of one year duration.

The hospital attached to the campus helps the intern students to learn the subjects (patients) with more involvement and gain practical knowledge even before stepping out of the college.

Facilities: The College has all important facilities well inside the campus itself. It has three playgrounds to cater physical training to the medical students. There are nine hostels all together in which five has been segregated to boys and rest four to the girls who study here. It also has a central library and two lecture halls to facilitate the academic needs.

Eligibility
To pursue MBBS/BDS at JLNMC students must satisfy following eligibility criteria.
The candidate should be 17 years old (as on 31st December of the admission year). He/She should have appeared for an exam cosidered to be equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam and studied PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology). The candidate should have studied English at 10+2 level. Candidate satisfying any of the following criteria are also eligible -
1) Candidates who have appeared for Intermediate examination in science with subjects PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English. Those who have appeared for pre-professional/pre-medical exams with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and have appeared for 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam or intermediate exam are also eligible.
2) Candidates who have passed the first year of a 3 year degree course with subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Biology are also eligible.
3)Candidates who have passed B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and who have cleared 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam with PCB are also eligible.
Admission Procedure
Marks obtained in Maths are not considered for admission into the MBBS course.
Please note that in a non-governmental institutes, 50% of the seats will be filled by management of the institute. Academic merit should be considered while granting admission under management quota. Rest 50% seats will be filled by competent authority based on the academic merit of the candidate.
Academic merit of a candidate will be determined based on the performance in competitive exam conducted by the state governemnt or competent authority or centralized competitive exam conducted at the national level.
Candidate must score at least 50% marks in the competitive exam. For SC/ST/OBC candidates the minimum percentage required is 40%.
For post-graduation courses, performance in first, second and MBBS exam can be considered to determine the academic eligibility of the candidate.
