Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College, Visakhapatnam was started in 1973 by 'The Society for CollegiateEducation'. The latter found its origin in the minds of some prominent citizens of the city who were deeply interested in higher education. Appropriately they named the college in honour of Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya who was the then Vice Chancellor of the Andhra University.A ten-acre plot was acquired in the heart of the city and necessary buildings were constructed . The student strength has grown to around 3000, one-third of which are girls. The college is affiliated to the Andhra University.Four years later the society found the need to establish a seperate institution for Intermediate Education and so founded Dr. Lanakapalli Bullayya Junoir college in August 1978.

The college works with a vision of serving the young generation with a tool called education to help them serve the society as value added citizens. It inculcates values and shapes their personalities for the cause of National Development.
