Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology,Bangalore

was established as a private engineering college in Bangalore in the year 1986. The institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University. It is situated on NH-7, covering a total area of 133 acres.

Being approved by All India Council of technical education, the institute offers various under graduate courses and post graduate courses.

The college is divided into various academic blocks such as:

The institute provides various facilities such as hostel, transportation, canteen, sports ground etc.

The admission criterion in the institute is given below:

Minimum age

17 years

For under graduate courses

Qualified intermediate examination with minimum 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths

For MBA

Candidate should have minimum 3 years of work experience. CAT scores accepted

Cutoff and Placements

Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology has its own Training and Placements Cell. A total of 35-40 renowned companies visit the college every year.

According to the placement statistics of the college, 90%-100% students are successfully recruited each year into IT, Civil, IEM, and a number of non technical companies.

Placement procedure

STEP 1: Induction Programme of semester one students is conducted initially and cumulative programmes are added each year.

STEP 2: Personal grooming, personality development, pre-placement training is provided in seven phases which includes important training on communication skills, leadership skills, confidence building and mock tests.

STEP 3: Mock HR interviews, group discussions, batch wise counselling and industrialists and students interaction on field work is facilitated.

The 2016 placement data of the college shows that 46 companies visited the campus and the highest package i.e. Rs 16 lakhs per annum were offered by Amazon.com.

Application and Admission Procedure

HOW TO APPLY:

A minimum of 45% marks in intermediate is required as the basic eligibility criterion for applying to the institute. The candidates can fill in the application form and submit the same in the campus. The fee details of the form are as follows:

ONLINE MODE: The fees for application form is paid through offline mode.

OFFLINE MODE: The form fees is usually around Rs.600 that is payable at desk.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED: Following documents are required by the institute:

  • Passport size photograph
  • 10+2 mark sheet photocopy
  • Photocopy of last qualifying exam in case applying for post graduate programs
  • ID proof

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

The candidates are granted admission strictly on merit basis. They need to appear for CET Karnataka, the scores of which shall be considered. There is no interview round for admission to the under graduate programs.

Scores obtained in CAT/CMAT/ATMA etc are accepted in case the candidate is applying for post graduation program. Interview and GD round may be conducted for post graduation candidates.

Hostel and Facilities

HOSTEL

The 4 men’s hostel and 2 ladies hostel has a capacity of 640 and 300 students respectively. The Hostel Committee undertakes the policy decisions whereas the day to day affairs are looked after by the warden and resident wardens.

Twin beds are provided along with basic amenities though bed-roll and linen have to be brought by the boarders. An additional fee of Rs 100 is charged every month in case of using computer. Strict discipline is maintained.

The hostel serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food which has to be chosen at the beginning of the semester as per one’s convenience.

CAMPUS FACILITIES

Various facilities provided by the college are listed in the table below:

LIBRARY

  • The library extends over an area of 1700 sq. m. comprising of 64897 books and 1237 periodicals along with subscription to E-journals.
  • Working hours are from 8.45 am to 9 pm.
  • Books are categorized according to the Dewey decimal classification.
  • Apart from these, an SC and ST book bank, reprographic section, A-V facility etc. are available.

BANK

  • The campus has a branch of Kotak Mahindra bank which operates 6 days a week with an ATM facility.

ENTREPRENNUERSHIP CELL

  • The Wadhwani foundation launched an E-Wings on April 2006 National entrepreneurship cell on the collaboration of Sir MVIT with NEN.

SPORTS

  • Availability of outdoor and indoor sports facilities.
  • Selections are conducted in the beginning of each odd semester through the organization of friendly fixtures.
  • The Karnataka state association looks after the playground in order to conduct their league tournament and private clubs.
  • The physical education department organizes sports activities under the cooperation of management and the principal.

HEALTH CARE

  • Dental and general care is provided to the students by the Krishnadevaraya College of Dental Sciences & Hospital which is located within the campus.
  • Facilities of transporting faculty and students to nearby nursing homes.

CANTEEN

  • Serves both north-Indian and south-Indian cuisines.
  • Remains open on all working days
  • According to the seasons, beverages of different flavors are served on different days.
  • A committee maintains the upkeep and function of the canteen.

STAFF QUARTER

  • Teaching and non-teaching staffs are accommodated in the three staff quarter buildings.
  • Principal lives in the bungalow located within the campus.
