GKM college of engineering and technology is a private institute established in 1996 under the affiliation of Anna University. It is an ISO 9001:2008 certified, NBA and NCA accredited institution.
GKMCET, Tamil Nadu is located in New Perungalathur, on the suburbs of Chennai and is spread across 10 acres of land with well equipped labs, Central and digital libraries, Internet centre, Conference halls for group discussions, Hostels and sports facilities.
Below is a list of the departments under the institution:
- Department of Mechanical, Marine, Civil, ECE, CSE, EEE, IT, Bio-medical, Automobile and Aeronautical engineering (For B.E Programme)
- Department of MBA
- Department of MCA
- Department of Science and humanities
The admission into UG and PG is on the basis of merit marks scored in class 12th and bachelor’s course respectively. For MBA Programme, a valid score in CAT/MAT exam is necessary.
In addition to this, the college also has an NSS and a YRC unit under Anna University. For department of Marine Engineering, a 26 weeks training is given to the students in the campus itself through the “GKM KAMAASHI” Ship available in the campus which has been approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai.
Hostel and Facilities
GKM College of Engineering And Technology offers hostel facilities within the college campus.
The college has separate hostel for boys and girls and each hostel has a hostel warden.
The hostel of GKM College has the following facilities:
Health Centre
A health centre has been setup for the students. Every day doctor visits the needy students and takes care of them. The institute has also arranged a vehicle separately for the students to take the sick to nearby hospital.
Bank Facility
United Bank of India ATM facility is available within the college premises.
Internet Centre
The speed of internet is too good, helping the students in their academics and projects. The centre provides scanning and printing facilities. The facility ios provided 24*7.
Transportation facility is also available for the students.
To make the stay of the students pleasant the institute constantly involves the students by organizing various events, activities and celebrations within the hostels.
