DMI COLLEGE OF ENGIEERING
Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and approved by All India Council of Technical Education, DMI College of Engineering is a Christian Minority Institution.
Spread over a total area of 55 acres, the college is run and managed by the Sisters of the Society of DMI. The college was founded in 2001 with three functional departments.
The college has a decent placement record with companies like Jaro Education, Sanmina, Boston, Object Frontier Software, Capgemini, Vector Works, Tech Mahindra etc recruiting students every year.

Hostel and Facilities
Hostel facilities
There are separate hostels for men and women. The hostels are well furnished and are well organized and maintained. There is a provision of delicious, healthy, and hygienic vegetarian and non-vegetarian food available in the mess.
There are wardens and faculty members who closely monitor all the activities of the hostel and the students residing in it. There is also a provision of newspapers, magazines, journals and television in the hostel.
There are doctors who visit the hostel for regular checkup of the students. Therefore, the hostel provides the students with a safe and secure friendly environment with the facilities such as
The hostel provides a secure, friendly and homely atmosphere along with the Hi-speed net access, 24 hr water supply, electricity, and security. It also has a reading room and garden.
Other facilities
There is a huge library with well stacked books and e-books are also available. The laboratories are well furnished and equipped with the instruments to be used in researches and tests.
The availability of 13 Mbps speed Reliance web association is also a unique factor about this institute. There is hygienic food in the cafeteria for the students. Various sports activities are available for the students.

Eligibility
To pursue MBA at DMICE students must satisfy following eligibility criteria.
The minimum qualification to apply for admission to the MBA Program is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 years of education) in any discipline which is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or any degree equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Secondary / Higher Secondary / Pre-degree Examinations (or equivalent) conducted by a Board / University.
Those appearing for the final year of the Bachelor's degree examinations may also apply subject to completing their examinations or viva-voce, if any, before June 30. Such candidates will however have to fulfil the above eligibility requirements in respect of minimum academic qualifications for admission and furnish evidence to that effect latest by October 31. At the time of interview and/or admissions, they will be required to produce a letter from their College Principal / Head of Institution stating the exam dates.
Candidates with appropriate industry experience will be given preference for admissions. Their work experience will be given due weightage in terms of the organization, position held and duration.
Admission Procedure
Selected candidates will be called to attend Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. Multiple Group Discussion & Personal Interview lists will be released in phases, both before and after the Application Deadline. The intimation for interview & group discussion is done through registered post and e-mail. In the case of some programs, Group Discussion may not be conducted, in favor of a rigorous interview process.
The selection criteria for calling candidates for admissions is based on multiple factors as follows:
- Past academic performance
- Quality & content of the answers in the application form
- Work experience, if any , in terms of job content & organization
- Group Discussion & Interview performance (applicable for final admissions only)
- Extra curricular activities, other interests & accomplishments
- Competitive Test score (CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT)
A combination of all the above factors are used to determine the eligibility of candidates to be offered final admission. Test scores are NOT the only criteria for selection.
A high test score does not guarantee a call for Group Discussion/Interview. The selection criteria are based on multiple factors as mentioned above.
Remarks
The college is good overall just the management is laid back at time. The faculty and the placement of the college is good. The syllabus though feels a but outdated and can be improved upon. Rest everything seems pretty decent.
Entrance Exam
I did not get through any entrance test as I came took admission under the management quota. The college accepts students based on their jee score. I took admission as it was recommended by a family member.
Fees
Being a management quota student the fee that I have paid is not the actual fee but about 1.5-1.75 times higher than the fee which is actually charged by the college.
Placements
The placement at this college is average not that good and not that bad. If you are a bright student you have a good scope of bagging a good job at a good company with a great package. If you are not that good you are likely to find your job on your own. The average package is around Rs 3-5 lakhs.
Hostel and Facilities
The hostel fee ranges from 30k to 50k depending on the type of room you want i.e non ac or ac room. It provides all the basic facility which is required by students it has good internet, gym, furniture, hot & cold water. It also has a laundry where students can wash their cloth.
Alumni
I am not aware of any alumni meet or havent met any passout or ex student of the college yet. The seniors are very friendly and approachable. They helped us a lot during our exam session. There is strict ragging provisions.
Faculty
The faculty of all other braches were good as comared to the mechanical branch. All of them were just m.tech graduate and lacked the industry or teaching experience. The college should definitely do something about this.
Campus Life
The college has a mix of students from various states in india as well as from abroad. The gender ration is around 1:3 but the best part is that there is no discrimination on the basis of gender of domicile/nationality. The college does not have a lot of clubs but provides a number of extracurricular activities like debate, seminars, dance competition, poster making, sports comp. There is no ragging in the campus and if anybody tries strict action is taken in against them.
Academics
Internships
Yes, the college offers internships some of the top companies which came for scholarship are tech Mahindra, IMB, infoedge. The range of stipend was from Rs 3k to 12k. The duration of the internship and the amount of stipend varies from company to company. Also make sure you have good academic record if you want to get in top companies for internship.
Loans and Scholarships
Scholarships are provided to students based on their score in jee mains or class12th. The amount also varies. The higher the score the more will be your scholarship. Scholarship is also provided to students who belong to reserved categories and their family income is also very low. I did not take loan so i have very little information about it.
