Founded in 1981, the institute is affiliated to Osmania University and has been granted autonomous status for all its graduate and postgraduate programs for 6 years by UGC (University Grants Commission), starting from 2014. The college introduced a Choice Based Credit System in 2016 for its courses. A Hindustan Times survey has ranked this college 3rd in Telangana and 32nd in India.

Application and Admission Procedure
The admissions are done on the basis of result of EAMCET (Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test). The candidates must have passed the Board Examination of Intermediate Education, Government of Telangana with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects, or any other examination equivalent to it, recognized by Osmania University.
- The first step is to fill the online application form available on the website is to fill in the basic and educational information.
- The next step is to upload the scanned photographs and the signature as per the dimensions specified.
- The payments can be done through Demand Draft of Rs.500/- as registration fee (non-refundable) drawn in favor of the Principal, Vasavi College of Engineering, payable at Hyderabad.
- After making the payment, the students need to take a print out of the application form for future reference in the admission process.
- The counseling process begins after the declaration of EAMCET result.

The college campus comprises of language labs (English and foreign), computer center facility, career guidance and counselling cell, sports complex, medical facility, first aid, ambulance facility, central library, and transport.
The college also offers value added courses in various programmes for students in order to develop their skills. Some of the value added courses are Cisco certification, CAD, GIS, VLSI, Embedded Systems, and DSP.

Our campus is very beautiful, full of greenery with the Golconda Fort in sight. I rejoice in the fact that I study B.Tech here. The admission to the course was merit based, considering the marks of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

There are very good placements in our college for all branches especially CS. The placements percentage lies around 70-75 percentage for mechanical and civil branches. Our faculty is highly qualifies and very supportive. Most of them are PHD holders with specialisation in their respective field. There is a very good learning environment in the college. In the first year the academic is really tough and there is strictness for the students to follow the rules of the college. Our college has a huge campus which is spread almost in 13 acre land. We have well equipped library, a playground for all the sports, classrooms are good, labs are equipped with all kind of instruments which is needed. We also have a good cafeteria where the food is above average and satisfactory. All kind of Co-curricular activities are supported in the college, we have a three day annual fests in the month of March, On the first day, it is called Acumen which is a technical fest. The second day is celebrated as Euphoria and the other day as DJ night. I'm satisfied with the fests and the crowd of the college.

To get admission to their UG Computer Science and Engineering course you have sit for TS- EAMCET examination. You can also go through via JEE Mains. In the year 2016 the cut off for this particular course was around 2000.

For Bachelors in Computer Science per year course fees comes upto 1.6 lakhs. There is provision for government scholarship as well as merit scholarship.

Internships are provided in certain selective areas although the administration is very supportive if you want to get an internship on your own. I got admitted through the EAMCET entrace test. I did not had to give nay interview. I got admitted in the college as it is one of the top engineering college in Hyderabad. Its reputation, the college infrastructure, the discipline of the students is really the talk of the town.

The fee structure is somewhat high which sometimes feels like a burden to both students and parents. The fee is hiked and has reached to 1.60lakhs per annum.It is obviously at a higher level for a middle class family. The management should consider this and not spoil its name for some extra money.

The exam structure in Vasavi is divided as two internals(mids) and an end semester external examination.During the internals, 2 exams are conducted per day, one in the morning and the other in afternoon.Sometimes it feels hectic but after the end of exams, we feel chilled out.

The College does not provide any internship by its own. Interested students can go to internship and after the completion of the internship, they are required to submit the certificate to the college.

The college has some education loan facility but not many of us actually heard of it often. The students get fee reimbursement of Rs.35,000 and they need to pay the remaining fee. The students can also get education loan from banks at low-interest rates which can be repaid.
