Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (

CIPET) was set up by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and fertilizers, Government of India in 1968 with assistance from the United Nations Development Program and the Hyderabad branch was set up in 1987 and each branch is affiliated to its respective state university and the courses are AICTE approved.

CIPET offers B. E / B. Tech courses in- Plastics engineering/ technology and Manufacturing engineering/technology.

It offers M. E. courses in- Plastics engineering, CAD/CAM, Polymer Nanotechnology, Material Science and engineering and Bio Polymer Science. An M. Sc degree is also offered in Polymer Science.

Post graduate diploma courses are available in- Plastics processing and testing and in Plastics testing and quality control.

The admissions to all these courses is based on the CIPET admission guidelines.

The institute has state of the art infrastructure at par with the best in its particular field. The classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors, laptops and whiteboards. Each of the laboratories has cutting edge technology and machinery.

The campus has hostels for only boys with mess and a dining hall, reading and internet rooms sports grounds, gymnasium, indoor games facilities and a medical officer on campus.

Hostel and Facilities

Hostel:

The college campus is built in a spacious area and it has a Tool Room, a Research Cell, conference halls and ultra-modern classrooms.

Separate hostels are available for both genders. Well furnished rooms with basic facilities like 24/7 water, electricity and security are available. Spacious playgrounds are there in the hostel premises.

Other facilities:

There is an auditorium, a cafeteria, a modern library with more than 16000 books and a number of other resources, a computer lab, Processing department, Plastics Testing Centre and playgrounds for outdoor games.

The college organises extracurricular activities, sports, dance, art, music events annually. The college’s annual fest is known as CIPOFEST and its technical fest is called “TEPIC” which encompasses the events of NEGHIZI- the plastic technology department and URUVAKKAM- the manufacturing engineering department.

Social work is organised by the Rotaract Club which includes blood donation camps, awareness drives etc.

The Placement Cell has collaborated with renowned Polymer industries which recruit students.

For industrial training of students; Short Term, Modular Training and Entrepreneurship Development programmes are facilitated by the college.
