Spread across an area of approximately 78 acres, Laxminarayan Institute of Technology was established before India sought independence, i.e. in the year 1942. It is a public institute providing education in the field of science and technology (chemical).

The institute offers both under graduate and post graduate courses to its students. The institute is the only one managed and administered directly by Nagpur University.

The institute provides specialisation to a candidate in 7 streams namely:

• Chemical engineering
• Petroleum refining and petrochemical technology
• Surface coating technology
• Paper and pulp technology
• Plastics and polymers technology
• Food technology
• Oils, fats and surfactants technology

The institute offers post graduate courses such as M.Tech and Ph.D. Some of the major recruiters of the institute are BPCL, Honeywell, Thermax etc.

Candidates aspiring for admissions to the institute should have qualified intermediate exams without grace along with MHT-CET. Admission granted on merit basis.

Application and Admission Procedure

Laxminarayan Institute of Technology is a government engineering institute which is directly managed and affiliated to Nagpur University. It was established in 1942 and has since then evolved into one of the premier technical institutes of Maharashtra. All its courses have been approved by the AICTE.

The Institute offers the following UG and PG Programmes

B.Tech (4 Years)

Discipline: Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Oil Technology, Paper and Pulp Technology, Petrochemical Technology, Plastic and Polymer Technology and Surface Coating Technology

Eligibility: Candidates seeking admission must be citizens of India who have passed S.S.C.(X) or any other equivalent examination and H.S.S.C (XII)/ 10 +2 from any of the recognized school from the region for which the seats are reserved. Candidates should have also secured not less than 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Vocational Technical subject in the first attempt and must have passed in the English Language

Admission Process: Through MCET. Selection of candidates is on the basis of their ranks in the composite merit list prepared & displayed by CBSE based on the score of JEE (Main) and normalized score in Class 12th or another qualifying exam

M.Tech (2 Years)

Discipline: Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Petroleum Refining and Petrochemicals, Surface Coating Technology, Paints Technology and Oil Technology

Eligibility: BE/B.Tech in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks

Admission Process: Strictly through GATE

Hostel and Facilities

LAXMINARAYAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY NAGPUR

Laxminarayan Institute of Technology has two hostels one for girls and the other for boys. The boy’s hostel is in the campus whereas the girls hostel in the university. The hostel serves the basic needs of the students and provides them with proper mess, 24 hours water and electricity supply. The hostel also has TV room and laundry services.

The institute has Departmental libraries and students library for the students to study. There is a gym and courts for several sports activities. There is a departmental store in the campus so that the basic needs of the students can be fulfilled. The canteen serves healthy food to the students. There is Wi-Fi facility available for the students to carry out their studies and research work. The college actively supports the students to grow and develop and provides various opportunities to them to do something better in life.
