Siddanganga Institute of Technology was established in the year 1963 as an undertaking of Sree Siddaganga Education Society. It is an autonomous college affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University Belagavi.
SIT is approved by All India Council for Technical Education and has bagged a place under Gold Category in AICTE-CII survey of Industry-Linked Technical Institutes in 2017. Presently, the institution comprises over 5000 students.
It offers 12 undergraduate courses and 16 post graduate programmes, some of which include the disciplines:

- Master of Business Administration
Admission into the Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Engineering degrees involve the following processes:

Situated in Tumkur, the campus area sprawls over 50 acres of land and provides facilities like a centralised library, incubation centre, health centre.
SIT advances accommodation facilities with 5 hostels for boys (4 within campus precincts and 1 in the town) and 2 hostels for girls (located in the town).

Application and Admission Procedure
How to Apply
B. E. applicants may online through Karnataka CET from the KCET website by filling up the online application form and can pay by e- challan.
Online applicants need to upload scanned copies of their recent passport size photograph, candidate’s signature, candidate’s left hand thumb impression and their parent’s signature.
For future reference candidates need to take out at least 3 printouts of the completed finally submitted application form, proof of fee paid and 3 copies of the passport size photograph which was uploaded along with the application form.
Admission Procedure
B. E. applicants need to have studied Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects in class XII with either Chemistry/ Electronics/ Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Science as optional subjects.
Admission is based on the Karnataka CET (KCET) rank and counselling conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Karnataka.
For candidates from outside Karnataka, COMED-K scores are accepted.
Hostel and Facilities
Hostel:
Siddaganga Institute of Technology has 2 girls and 5 boys hostels. The girls hostel is off-campus and from the boys’ hostels only one is off campus.
The hostel residents are provided with these facilities:
- Furnished rooms with beds, rack, table and chair
- Each hostel with its own vegetarian mess, which serves North and South Indian cuisine
- R.O. drinking water
- 24/7 Hot water, cold water, electricity, WiFi supply
- Dispensary
- Segregated gymnasiums
- Full time security
- Ambulance facility
- Recreation room with television and newspapers availability
Laundry services are provided by collaboration with outside service providers. A guest house with paid staying facility for parents and guardians is also available.
Campus facilities:
The campus has well equipped laboratories in each of the departments. There are a total of 2232 computers at 33 centres. Apart from these it has:

- Auditorium
- Gym and indoor games room
It also has IBM Centre of Excellence and Incubation centre. For sports a 400m athletics track is present and playgrounds are structured for Badminton, Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball etc. Girls have been provided with separate indoor games hall.

RANKING:
- Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has recognised 16 departments of SITM as a research centre.
- It has been ranked 78th in India under the “Research and Teaching” category by NIRF 2018.
- NAAC has accredited an A grade to this institute.
