Distance MBA in Kolkata
Kolkata is by far the most important hub for education in Eastern India, owing to its metropolitan nature. Kolkata also while being the capital of west Bengal is also the primary location and houses various institutions and Universities. Burdwan University, Burdwan located near Kolkata offers a distance MBA course, while Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata offers various courses in Fine arts. Further Vidyasagar University also offers courses in Distance MBA, and has many of its study centers in Kolkata. Kolkata also has various institutes that offer distance courses from other national open distance education universities.
Carreograph Institute of Management Studies offers Distance MBA courses in Kolkata in affiliation to Vidyasagar University, which has its courses approved and accredited by the UGC – Distance Education Council. Similarly Netaji Subhas Open University also has all of its courses approved by the Distance Education council. IGNOU also has a major regional study center in Kolkata and offers approved courses for the students. Further, Burdwan University is also approved by the UGC and is recognized by the DEC. While ICFAI also having major regional centers in Kolkata also offer UGC approved courses.
Burdwan University accepts students who have a graduation degree from a recognized university (10+2+3\4 system) with valid MAT/ CAT/ XAT etc. scores. Vidyasagar University is more lenient with its eligibility and requires the student to only be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. Netaji Subhas Open University requires its students to be a graduate with a minimum aggregate of 50% to be eligible for the Distance MBA course.
The course fee at Vidyasagar University is Rs.16, 200 per semester inclusive of the Examination fees for a total of 4 semesters. The fee at Burdwan University is on similar lines and is around Rs.16, 000 per semester for 4 semesters. The fees are to be paid through the usual lines, which include payment via Demand draft, or via Bank Challans.
Burdwan University offers the most sought after popular specialization that include Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, Systems and Operations, Insurance and risk and Media Management, while Vidyasagar University offers a classic / regular Distance MBA course. The regional Center of IGNOU offers the MBA course in various specializations including Health care Management, IT Management, etc., and various other institutes in the city provide for a wide range of options for students.
The admission at Carreograph Institute of Management studies, Kolkata affiliated to Vidyasagar University is done through out the year for 2 sessions in June and July. The candidates applying to the institutions will have to pass the screening test for admission into the Distance MBA course.
Burdwan University also has a similar session calendar which starts in June/ July. The admission to the university, after applying on obtaining the prospectus and application, is done on the basis of an entrance examination and GDPI (Group Discussion and Personal Interview).
