Madras University Distance MBA
The University of Madras is one of the oldest universities in the country, and with an establishment of 153 years the university is excellent. The institute of Distance Education (IDE) was established in 1981, and has offered courses ever since in the distance mode and in the Open University system. The University has over 30 study centers in the country and 5 abroad. The institute presently cumulatively enrolls over 1-lakh students.
The application form must be collected from any of the study centers/at the Institute/ Spot admission center, by paying an amount of Rs100/- in cash, or the applicant may request the application form by post by sending a DD of Rs150/- in favor The Director, IDE University of Madras, payable at Chennai. The application form may also be downloaded from the website, but the student must send the amount of Rs100/- along with the registration fee of Rs1000/-.
The university offers admission to the applicants in two modes, Single Window and Spot admission.
The university has opened a Single Window admission center at the University of Madras, IDE Central campus. The student must submit the filled in application form and the required documents and pay the registration fee, at the appropriate counter. The Single window admission center is open throughout the week, from 10:00AM to 5:00PM.
The applicant may also appear in person at any of the study centers with the filled in application form and the required original documents as mentioned in the prospectus, to obtain admission.
The fee for the Executive MBA is Rs25, 000/- for the first year, and Rs5, 000/- in the subsequent year. The fee for the MBA 2-year course is Rs8, 730/- and Rs8, 430 for the first and second year respectively. For Overseas SAARC Country students the fee for the whole Executive MBA course is $1800, and for the MBA 2-year course is $600. Similarly for the other overseas students, the university charges $3000 for the Executive MBA course, and $1500 for the MBA 2-year course. The candidate may pay the fee through Bank Challan or through Demand Draft at the designated bank, or he may pay through the online mode at www.ideunom.ac.in. The candidate must strictly pay the tuition and Examination fee using separate Bank Challans.
The reserved category students are eligible for reimbursement of fee as well as an annual allowance of Rs500/- towards purchase of study material. The eligible students must submit their application form, during the study at IDE only. Similarly the visually impaired and differently abled students may also avail themselves of a similar scholarship.
For the General MBA course the candidate must have any of the following qualifications for eligibility for admissions under the 10+2+3 education pattern:
- The candidate must have a pass in any Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree at any UGC/AIU recognized university.
- A professional degree in Engineering/Medicine/Technology/Architecture/Law
- Professional qualification in Accountancy/Cost and Works Accountancy/Company Secretaryship.
For the Executive MBA the candidate must have an additional 3-year professional experience for eligibility.
The university offers the Executive MBA 2-year course with 1 year of theory and 1 year of project work. The university also offers a general MBA course with variety of specializations, such as Apparel Management, Finance Management, Education Management, Export Import Management, Hospital Management, Retail Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management, Systems Management, Travel Management, International Business, and Logistic and Supply Chain and Management.
Madras University has been accredited “A” Grade by the NAAC, and conferred the status of ”University with potential for excellence” by the UGC. The university also provides with all the courses approved by the Distance Education Council.
