MG University Distance MBA

The School of Distance Education (SDE), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam Kerala established in 1989, is one of the best Distance education institutes in the country providing quality education to many students in rural and inaccessible areas.

The school of distance learning focuses imparting business and research skills to the students to develop entrepreneurial and managerial capabilities. The school encourages students to pursue projects and mentored study on issues of their own interest.

Salient Features of Distance MBA Program

The program is especially caters to working professionals wanting to climb the career ladder with an MBA degree but lack time to pursue a regular full time course. It also caters to house wives and fresh graduates who want to get higher education and continue their studies.

The MBA program has 28 courses with organization study (minor project) in the third semester and a major project in the final semester. Each course including minor project carries 3 credits but major project carries 6 credits. Student gets to complete 93 credits during the program.

Duration – Total duration of the course is 2 years. There are 4 semesters each 16 weeks long. Teaching and exams will actually be completed in 90 days in semester.

Contact Programs – As part of the course, university conducts contact programs at designated centers. There are 60 contact hours per semester. Contact program is conducted on week-ends and holidays.

Admission Procedure

STEP 1 – Prospectus and application form

Students can register online on university website for new admission.

The Prospectus along with a secret key can be obtained from the specific study enters by remitting an amount of Rs. 500/- through the Mahatma Gandhi University pay in slip exclusively for the University account, payable at Kerala.

Students should obtain the application form by paying Rs. 100/- to the respective Center Coordinator. The applicants must prepare an account on the MGU official website using the key provided in the prospectus, and register online.

STEP 2 – Attach Documents

The filled in application form must be printed out and sent along with the required enclosures, and a Pay-in slip towards the course fee. The university also offers online payment facility at http://epay.mgu.ac.in/

The enclosures must include the original certificates of the:

• 10^th grade Marks sheet
• 12^th grade Marks Sheet
• Qualifying Degree Certificate, along with the detailed marks card of each semester
• Transfer Certificate
• Community Certificate and Experience Certificate (if applicable)
• Pay in Slip towards course fee in favor of Finance Officer, Mahatma Gandhi University, payable at State Bank of Travancore, Mahatma Gandhi University Campus Branch (Code 70669), Priyadarshini Hills, Kottayam.

STEP 3 – Entrance Test, Rank list and Counselling

The MBA candidates must further pass an entrance examination like KMAT/CMAT/CAT/XAT /MGU-MAT to be eligible for admission at MGU – SDE. Minimum score to pass the exam is 30.

All admissions at MG University are made on basis of merit. Each student will be assigned a rank based on marks obtained in entrance test and bachelor’s degree exam. Based on the rank, counseling session shall be conducted for admission to the MBA programme.

STEP 4 – Admission and Contact Center allocation

Applications, which are deemed complete and are processed, will be issued admission cards and distributed to the students through the respective center coordinators.

The candidates must produce qualifying Degree Certificate/Provisional Certificate/Confidential mark list for verification before last date for admission. The university will cancel the admission if the documents are not produced for verification.

Distance MBA Fee Structure

The total course feed for MG University Distance MBA course is Rs. 29,000/-

The fee must be paid through the pay in slip remitted at any SBT branch exclusively for The School of Distance Education, Mahatma Gandhi University. The student needs to pay the University’s share and the Center’s share of the fee amount separately, using different Pay-in Slips. Applications that are rejected will receive their course fee back to the center. The candidates will have to obtain re-admission into the course, on defaulting from paying the tuition fees of the course before the stipulated dates.

Scholarships

The university does not offer any kind of scholarships to its students, and expects the students to pay the full tuition amount.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must possess a graduate degree from any of AICTE/UGC recognized university or institute with a 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 pattern. The student must have secured at least 50% marks in bachelor’s degree exam. Marks obtained in language exams should also be included while deciding eligibility. For SC/ST/OBC students, university might offer relaxation in minimum marks required.

Those with a  Master’s Degree examination with 50% marks in aggregate are also eligible.

All students must qualify the entrance examination held by Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU-MAT) for the MBA/MCA applicants or any other national exams like KMAT/CMAT/CAT/XAT.

Approval

Mahatma Gandhi University is accredited with a “B+” grade from the NAAC, and has all its courses approved by the Distance Education Council, and is recognized by the UGC.

Last date to apply for MG University Distance MBA Admission is 31-July-2019 for July 2019 session. For Jan-2020 session, last date to apply is 31-Jan-2020.
