Osmania University Distance MBA

Originally Named Institute for Correspondence Courses, Prof G Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education, is a well-known institute for distance education. Established in 1977, the university has a lot of experience in the field of distance education. The university is a pioneer in Open Distance Learning, and is highly respected throughout the country.

Osmania university distance MBA requires students to attend classes on weekends – Saturdays and Sunday from 9am to 5:30pm.

Admission Procedure

Online Application form

• The candidates need to register on Osmania University admission portal –  www.ouadmissions.com
• On successful registration, candidates will receive a registration id on registered email and mobile number.
• The candidate needs to log into the portal and upload the scanned photo and signature. Fill up the required details and submit the form.
• Candidates also need to pay a registration fee of Rs.900 online using debit/credit card or netbanking facility.

Offline Application Procedure

The university provides admission by the following modes: By post, and in person. The applicant will also need to appear for the Entrance exam held by Osmania University to be eligible for the admission procedure.

For admission to the MBA course, in person the applicant must obtain the application form from the Bank/ Sales counter, and carefully fill the application form. The applicant must attach all the enclosures required (Original and a photocopy of each document) of which the original will be returned after verification. The candidate must also attach the demand draft of the admission fee along with the application, and submit it at the concerned counter. The candidate will be issued the ID card and the fee receipt, after which the candidate may proceed to pay the Fee for the first semester through Demand Draft in favor of “Director, PGRRCDE”

For admission through post, the candidate must obtain the application form online, fill it up carefully, and attach the enclosures (Original and a photocopy). The candidate must attach the DD of Rs900/- + the admission fee. For students from outside A.P and Telangana, an additional amount of Rs1,000/- is to be enclosed towards the equivalence certificate. The originals will be returned by registered post after verification, and therefore a spare envelope must be enclosed along with the application. Finally, the ID Card and the study material will be sent by post.

Entrance Test

Candidates need to appear for an entrance test to become eligible for the distance mba offered by Osmania University. The entrance test has 100 questions of 1 mark each. The duration of the test is 90 minutes. The pattern of the exam is give below –

Fee Structure 2023-24

The fee structure for the Distance MBA course at Osmania University is Rs.10,000/- per semester for each of the 4 semesters of the course. Total course fee for 2 years is Rs.40,000/-.

It must be noted that the study material will be sent to only the students who complete the total fee payment. The fee may be paid through a demand draft in favor of “The director, PGRRCDE”, or it may also be paid online through Credit/Debit card.

Scholarships

Osmania University does not offer any kind of scholarships to its students, and requires that all the students pay the full fee amount to receive the study material by post.

Eligibility Criteria

For eligibility into the MBA course offered at Osmania University, the candidate must satisfy the following criteria:

1. The candidate must qualify the ICET (Integrated Common Entrance Test for MBA/MCA. Or he must qualify the entrance test held by Osmania University
2. The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree from any of the recognized university with minimum of 3 years duration with an aggregate of 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST/OBC category students).
3. The course does not have any age restrictions.

Specializations offered

Although the University does not offer any specializations in its MBA course, and offers only the General Management MBA, the university offers additional electives to MBA passed students in Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, and Financial Management. Furthermore, the university also offers specialized project reports for any of the specializations, for an informal specialization.

Approval

The entire professional and the regular courses at Osmania University are approved and recognized by the regulatory bodies such as the AICTE, UGC and the Distance Education Council. Furthermore, the university is well recognized throughout Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Ranking

Osmania University is a venerable university, with a lot experience in the field of open distance learning, and is ranked well among the best distance learning institutes. Osmania University is ranked 18^th among the best Distance learning institutes in India by Careers360 in its 2012 ranking.

Important Dates 2023-24

Last date to apply for the MBA entrance exam with late fee was extended to 12-October-2022. The exam was held on 15-October-2022.
