AMUCAT 2024 - Syllabus, Eligibility, Application form, 2024 Notification
Aligarh Muslim University conducts an entrance test every year which is known as AMU CAT which stands for Aligarh Muslim University combined aptitude test to admit students under MBA/MBA(IB) , MFC , MTA courses and is going to be held in the month of May this year.
Structure of the exam
The question paper would consist of 200 questions in all for 200 marks which states one mark for each correct answer. The duration of the exam would be three hours. The question paper is divided into following sections :
- Quantitative and numerical ability
- Comprehension and verbal ability
- Environmental awareness
- Reasoning and Intelligence
- Data analysis and Interpretation
Eligibility criteria
For admissions to MBA/MBA(IB) , MFC and MTA courses , the candidate must be a graduate with 50% and above aggregate in the qualifying exam. The candidate must have been graduated under 10+1+3 or 10+2+2 system.
How to apply
The application form for Aligarh Muslim University MBA admission is to be filled online only. Candidates are advised to take the print out of the filled in application form on A-4 size paper of not less than 80GSM and candidates should put their thumb impression , signature and recent passport size photographs in the designated place in the application form. The fees for taking the test is Rs.600 ( to be announced for the year 2015) which is non-refundable needs to be paid either through demand draft or cash receipt and needs to be attached with the application form. The demand draft should be drawn in favour of “ Finance officer , AMU , Aligarh “ payable at Aligarh or if cash receipt from Finance office , AMU , Aligarh. Candidate is advised to attach the original demand draft with his/her application form and also one should mention his / her name , date of birth , course at the back of the demand draft.
Admission procedure
Candidates are admitted on the basis of admission test held at various centres. The total merit would consist of a written test which is of 200 marks and an Interview/Group discussion which consists of 50 marks. The candidates who qualify the written examination are then called for the interview/group discussion and physical presence is mandatory for this session. Candidates are advised to check the official website of Aligarh Muslim University for regular updates after the entrance test is over.
Notification
The notification regarding the availability of Application Forms/Guide to Admissions 2015 shall tentatively be made in the 1st week of February 2015 .Till now the date of the exam is declared which is 10th may 2015 while the other notifications related to the structure and syllabus is out.
Syllabus for exam
The question paper would contain 100 questions carrying 200 marks given weightage to each sections such as
- Environmental Awareness : 25%
- Quantitative and Numerical Ability : 20%
- Comprehension and Verbal Ability Test : 25%
- Reasoning and Intelligence : 15%
- Analysis and Interpretation of Data : 15%
It would be a 3 hour long paper with no negative marking . It would be an objective type question paper.
- Enviromental Awareness :
Objective type questions to test candidates’s awareness regarding developments in the field of political , social , technological and economic environments both in indian and international context. Questions relating to characteristics of indian economy , basis economic indicators , industrial , trade , fiscal , budgetary and monetary policies , indian banking system and its functioning , awareness about corporate sector , indian and international trade , economic agreements , changes in political , technological and cultural environments.
- Quantitative and Numerical Ability :
Objective questions to judge candidate’s ablity in using the fundamental and standard procedure in arithmetic , algebra , geometry and other branches and to determine logical thinking , speed and accuracy in implementing basic skills of mathematics .Questions based on Elementary Arithmetic-Percentage , ratio , proportion time and distance , relative speed , time and work , interest , stocks , shares and discount , rules of divisibility , HCF and LCM , power , exponents and roots ; Elementary algebra – algebraic equations ; Elementary geometry – angle , line , polygon , solids , cylinders , perimeters , volume , circles , tangent to circle , sphere , etc .; linear and quadratic equations ; basis of trigonometry and coordinate geometry.
- Comprehension and Verbal Ability Test :
Objective questions to test a candidate’s skill of quick comprehension and verbal ability based on comprehension at paragraph and sentence level , identification of mistakes , grammar and usage , word formation , synonyms , antonyms , pairing of words , analogies , sentence structure and construction , active and passive voice , prepositions , completion of sentences etc .
- Reasoning and Intelligence :
Objective questions to test candidate’s ability to evaluate , comprehend , and analyze in logical manner. Questions may include verbal reasoning and verbal analogy , letter series , number series , coding and decoding , logical diagrams , and syllogism , etc.
- Analysis and Interpretation of Data :
Objective questions to test ability of a candidate’s decision making such as various techniques and methods used in order to interpret a given set of data . Questions based on Sets – Union and intersection , frequency and class intervals , cumulative frequencies and various typers of graphic diagrams used in interpretation , basis of probability , and permutation and combination .

Results of AMU entrance examination is expected to be declared on the month of june,2015.
Distribution Of seats
Seats are reserved for SC/ST , females , NRI’s and Kashmir Migrant’s candidates . Seats which are divided according to different courses can be checked by going through the official website and also by goin through the respective college’s website.
