BMAT stands for Bharati Vidyapeeth Management Aptitude Test which is conducted by Bharati University every year to admit students under MBA program. It stands among top B-schools in India and the exam is going to take place this year on 22nd March.

Structure of the exam

Bharati Vidyapeeth Unviersity conducts a written test to admit students under MBA program. The paper consists of 200 multiple choice questions and is of 200 marks with no negative marking and each correct answer to be awarded with one mark. Following sections are covered up in the examination :

  1. Current affairs 20 marks
  2. Mathematics at X level- 30 marks
  3. Logical and abstract reasoning – 50 marks
  4. Computer awareness – 20 marks
  5. Verbal ability and reading comprehension – 40 marks
  6. Quantitative aptitude – 20 marks
  7. Management skill – 20 marks

Eligibility criteria

Applicant with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks or more in case of general category in the qualifying exam and 45% in case of SC/ST category from a recognized University. Also , final year students are eligible to apply but their admission will remain provisional untill and untill the original documents are submitted to the University. The candidate should be Indian national when applying.

How to apply ?

One can apply online by going through the official website of Bharati Vidyapeeth Univesity or one could directly obtain forms from the following address on payment of Rs200 in cash or by DD of Rs 400 in favour of “ Registrar , Bharati Vidyapeeth University , Pune” payable at Pune drawn on any nationalized bank. One can apply online by filling up the online application form which is available at the official website of the University and also by submitting the details of the Demand Draft which is drawn in favour of “ Registrar , Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University” Payable at Pune from any nationalised bank. Also , the candidates are advised to keep a photocopy of the application form and receipt as it would be required at the time of examination and during the time of examination , candidates should keep a valid ID proof and the candidates without an ID proof won’t be allowed to sit for the examination. The fees for the examination is Rs.1700 which is non refundable.

Selection procedure

After the written exam is over , candidates are advised to check regularly the official website of Bharati Vidyapeeth to have an insight about the group discussion and personal interview sessions. Group discussion consists of 30 marks while Personal interview consists of 20 marks. One is admitted after the personal interview session is over and a final list is preapred after reviewing the marks scored in written test , Group discussion and Personal interview sessions and students are then thereby admitted.

Notification

The notification for the BMAT exam of Bharati Vidyapeeth University came out in the month of January in 2015 regarding the sale of application forms and registration.

Syllabus of the exam :

The BMAT test paper consists of 200 questions in all with 200 marks. It is an objective type question paper with four alternatives given to each question. One mark would be awarded to each correct answer while there is no negative marking. Overall , the paper is considered to be a 250 mark paper as 50 marks are kept for Personal interview and group discussion session distributed as 20+30 respectively. The paper is divided into following sections :

  1. Current affairs – 20 marks
  2. Current affairs in terms of politics , business , entertainment etc would be asked to test your knowledge about the latest happenings around the world.

  3. Mathematics – 30 marks
  4. The questions would be asked till the level of class 10th Questions would include from Trigonometry , geometry , probability , profit and loss , area and circumference , time and work problems , speed and distance problems , HCF and LCM , ratio and proportion , mensuration , percentages , number systems , linear equations , average.

  5. Logical and abstract reasoning – 50 marks
  6. Syllogism , number series , letter series , cubes , clock , calendars , logical sequence , logical matching , etc.

  7. Computer awareness – 20 marks
  8. Questions would be asked to test your basic knowledge about computer , its software , its internal and external devices.

  9. Verbal ability and reading comprehension – 40 marks
  10. Synonyms , antonyms , grammar , English usage , cloze passage , analogies , jumbled paragraph , idioms , phrases , use of articles , prepositions , inferences , verbal reasoning , fill in the blanks , sentence correction and reading comprehension.

  11. Quantitative aptitude – 20 marks
  12. Management skill – 20 marks

Important dates to keep in mind :

  1. Notification came out : January’15
  2. Last date of submitting the filled in application form : 14th March’15
  3. Date of Entrance examination : 22nd March’15
  4. Result out : 2nd April ‘ 15

Result :

The result would be out on 2nd April’15 and would be valid for a span of one year. Candidates are advised to check the official website for details.

Distribution of seats :

The criterion for distribution of seats is not yet out. Candidate is advised to check the official website after the results are announced to have an insight as to how many seats are provided for the course and how the seats are divided among different categories of students.

Counselling schedule :

Soon after the results are announced , a merit list is prepared to shortlist the students and all the shortlisted students are then called for the group discussion and personal interview session with a panel of teachers. 50 marks are kept for the group discussion and personal interview. 30 marks for group discussion and 20 marks for personal interview session are reserved. Shortlisted students are called for the group discussion and then after the group discussion , students are again shortlisted and called up for the personal interview session. After the personal interview session is over with all the shortlisted students , students are then admitted after successfully reviewing the scores. Students are advised to keep a check on the official website after the results are out , to know about the counselling schedule.
