What is UPSEE?

UPSEE stands for Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam, which is conducted by Uttar Pradesh State Technical University (UPTU) every year to offer admissions into professional courses in the state of Uttar Pradesh. All universities affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh State Technical University offer admissions to students based on this exam.

The following is the list of some top colleges accepting UPSEE score.

Pattern of UPSEE 2018

Usually, there are different papers for people going for different specialties, in totality 11 papers. Papers 1 to 4 will only be conducted through the offline mode while papers 5 to 11 can be taken up only through the online mode i.e. a computer-based test.

All the exams have objective type question except for paper 4 which contains a drawing section. Each correct answer is given 4 marks and no marks are deducted for a wrong answer. The duration of the exam is 3 hours.

UPSEE 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility criteria that the candidates applying for this exam should fulfill.

  • Candidates should have completed their 12th grade from a UP board or any other recognized board.
  • Candidates should have scored a minimum of 45% in their 12th grade and should have taken the subjects physics and mathematics.
  • Candidates belonging to SC or ST have to secure a minimum aggregate of 40% in their 12th grade exams.
  • Candidates should also have studied any one of the following subjects – Biology or Chemistry or biotechnology as an optional subject.

UPSEE 2018 Application and submission procedure

The application process of UPSEE is online or offline.

Online Application Process

First and foremost, the candidates have to go to the official site and register themselves. Once this is done, they can access the application form. In the application form, the candidate needs to give his / her personal details like name, date of birth, email ID, contact number, followed by the details of their guardian, educational details etc.

Next, the candidates are asked to upload the following documents:

  • Scanned image of the photograph (The size of the file containing the photograph should be between 4KB to 100KB and the dimensions of the file with the photograph should be 3.5cm x4.5cm)
  • Scanned image of the signature (The size of the signature should be between 1KB to 30KB and the dimensions of the file containing the signature should be 3.5cm to 1.5cm)
  • Scanned image of the thumbprint (The size of the thumbprint should be between 1KB to 30KB and the dimensions of the file containing the thumb impression should be 3.5cm to 1.5cm)

It should be noted that all the images uploaded by the candidate should be in the JPEG format. Additionally, applicants need to take due notice that they have followed the above-mentioned rules while uploading the images.

Next they need to pay the exam fees. For male candidates and candidates belonging to the general or OBC category, the fee amounts to Rs. 1200. For female candidates and candidates belonging to the ST/SC category, the fee is Rs. 600. Once the payment of the fees is done, the candidates need to submit the form. On doing so, they will be given a registration number that they will need to note down and use it for further reference.

Offline Application Process

Apart from the online mode, applicants can also opt to fill in the form offline. They can get the form from one of the many designated places free of cost. The candidates then have to fill up the form, give their photograph, thumb impression and signature at the allotted desk and pay the exam fees. Once they finish these steps, they can submit the form.

Once they finish the above steps, the help desk will give them three copies of the confirmation page which will give the details of the applicant along with the registration number, which can be used by the applicant for future reference.

UPSEE 2018 Admit Card

All the candidates who have applied for the exam have to download the admit card. Additionally, the admit card will also be sent through post. The admit card, being an extremely important document, needs to be carried by the candidate while appearing for the exam. Additionally, candidates should also check the details that are mentioned on the admit card. It is important to see whether all the details mentioned on the card are accurate.

Following are the details mentioned on the card:

  • Name of the candidate
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Exam center
  • Date of the exam
  • The paper being attempted by the candidate
  • The timings of the exam

UPSEE 2018 Admission Process

Once the results are announced, the candidates will be called for counseling procedure based on the rank list. The counseling process is divided into three phases – verification of the required documents, choosing the stream and confirmation of seats.

1st Phase

During the first phase, namely verification of the document, the required documents need to be shown to the authorities. The candidates need to carry the original as well as photocopies of the required documents. Once the verification process is done, each candidate will be given a one-time password that will be helpful during the next step.

2nd Phase

During the second phase, namely choosing the stream, the candidates should mention their preferred university and the required stream. It should be noted that during this phase, the candidates only give their preference and no guarantees will be made on whether they will be able to secure a seat or not.

3rd Phase

During the last phase, candidates will be allotted seats based on their ranking. Some will get the seats that they want while others might not. Candidates who are satisfied with their allotment have to submit an acceptance form which is a testament to the fact that they accept the admission into that particular college and into that particular stream. Other unaccepted seats will be cancelled and allotted to other candidates.

The notification for UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh state entrance examination) has been released by the Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) in December 2017. It is published on the official website of the examination.

Results

The UPSEE results will be declared on the official site of the examination. It will be tentatively released around the 4th week of May 2018. In 2017 the result was announced on 29th may 2017. The results are on merit basis.

UPSEE 2018 Cut off

The UPSEE cut off is majorly considered by the following factors like number of students appearing in the examination, number of students qualifying in the examination, total marks obtained by the candidate, difficulty in the examination, availability of seats, number of participating universities, the performance of the candidate etc.

In UPSEE – 2017 more than 3 lakh candidates appeared for the examination and 1 lakh 38 thousand candidates qualified it. Total 88.50% of candidates passed. The examination was conducted on 16th April 2017.  This year (2017) the topper was Prabhakar Bindal of Meerut.

The UPSEE score is valid for 1 year. The scores of previous year cannot be carried forward.

UPSEE 2018 Counselling schedule

The counselling procedure starts once the results are declared on the official website.The counselling session for UPSEE 2018 will tentatively start from the third week of June 2018.

The counselling procedure involves counselling registration after the declaration of result, document verification, choice filling, seat allocation and seat confirmation.

In 2017 the UPSEE counselling started from 19th June 2017 and ended after 5 rounds on 31st July 2017.

Counselling schedule is as follows:

  • The 1st round of counselling and allotment will be held by the third week to the fourth week of June 2018.
  • The 2nd round of counselling and allotment will be by July 2018.
  • The 3rd round of counselling and allotment will be held by second week or third week of July 2018.
  • The 4th round of counselling and allotment will be held by the third to fourth week of July 2018.
  • The 5th round of counselling and allotment will be held by last week of July 2018.
  • The spot-counselling which is only for government colleges will be done by the first week and the second week of August 2018.

UPSEE 2018 Sample Paper

The answer key of UPSC 2018 is said to be released by the authorities in the second week of April 2018. The answer key is used to match the candidates answer in the examination and estimate scores.
