Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University formally known as Kanpur University is a public university established in 1966. It is located in the Industrial capital of India, Kanpur, and U.P. It is administered by the government of Uttar Pradesh. The university is one of the largest university in India and offers courses in various disciplines namely, Engineering, Management, Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Medicine, Computer Applications and Biotechnology.

The university is spread across 264 acres of land with booming academic and extracurricular facility. To fulfill the needs of the aspiring young minds of the country it has a Computer centre, department of adult and continuing Education and a college development council. It has over 170 affiliated colleges in over 15 districts.

The admission into the courses offered by the University is through UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination) Entrance Exam. The application for admission in conducted in two phases, March and April. This is depends on the courses applied for.

Additionally, the university provides reservation for selected sections of the society. This is done as per the guidelines by the U.P Government.

Application and Admission Procedure

Kanpur University is affiliated to 350 colleges in 15 different districts. The University offers a number of UG/PG courses like B.Com, BBA, MCA etc.

The University organizes an entrance test named Kanpur University Admission Test for the admissions. The admit cards for the test can be downloaded from the official website by entering the Registration no. Also, the results will be declared online. After the result declaration, the choice filling is done by logging in on the official website. Based on the choice filling and result of the entrance test colleges are allotted to the candidates.

The application fee is Rs.600 for GEN/OBC candidates and Rs.400 for SC/ST and other candidates.

• Visit the official website, select the link” University Entrance Exam Application”.
• Read all the instructions carefully, and click on “Apply Now” and click on “I Agree”.
• Select the course and subject; the candidate will also see a student verification page.
• Fill in all the basic details, upload the photo and signature.
• And pay the fees.

The Application form can only be filled online. There is no offline mode available. The candidates who wish to appear for the Entrance Test must register themselves for the same.

Hostel and Facilities

Hostel

There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The twins occupancy hostel rooms are spacious, well maintained, furnished and well equipped with all modern facilities like 24 hours electricity, water supply internet connection etc. All the hostels have a common room with cable TV connection, Telephone, Table tennis board, carom board etc.

All the hostels have separate mess which serves good food. Besides the several indoor game facilities, this university also has some outdoor sports facilities such as badminton, basketball, tennis, volleyball courts, football ground. Moreover, there is a well-equipped gym, well-organized labs and library. The hostel security is very tight here.

There are many Govt and Private scholarship programmes are there. To avail this scholarship the interested students need to appear in a test.
