Dr. M.G.R. EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE is a private University founded in the year 1988. The Institution attained the Deemed-to-be University status in the year 2003, under the University Grants Commission and the Union Ministry of Human Resources and Development, of India. The NAAC has given the institution a CGPA of 3.31 on 4 and has awarded it with an ‘A’ grade.

It is one of the biggest universities in India delivering educational programs in Humanities & Sciences, Engineering, Dental, Medical, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Legal studies.

Candidates interested in Engineering & Technology, Para-medical, Humanities & Sciences or Computer Applications courses will be selected on the basis of any national level entrance examination or through the MGR Engineering Entrance Examination (MGREEE), and their performances in the personal interview round.

Admission into Architecture courses requires NATA scores, while Medicine and Dental requires students to take up NEET.

The College has signed up MOUs with around 40 companies and industries such as the Oracle, IBM, BSNL and more. The University is located in Chennai and is setup on a sprawling 300 acres of land, well-equipped with all modern facilities.

Application and Admission Procedure

The University follows a separate application process for Indian & NRI candidates. Students can check the steps as given below-

Candidates can obtain the application form from the official website of the university and submit the completely filled form along with the necessary details to complete the application process.

Application fee:  Candidates have to pay   a fee of INR 1600 for application and eligibility certificate. The payment can be made through online payment gateways.

For NRI candidates

Candidates completing advanced level qualification and central board examination abroad can are also eligible to apply by paying the required fee.

The origin of the candidate should be Indian, who is settled abroad or should be born to parents of Indian origin abroad. They must possess an Indian passport.

Hostel and Facilities

Campus Facility

The university campus is situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It has state of the art infrastructure for medical students which includes interactive classrooms, high tech laboratories and various workshops for respective courses. Other facilities on campus are transportation facility, cafeteria, guest house, sports ground, theatre, banking facility and ATM.

A 500-bed hospital on 4 acres of land has been proposed to be built on campus to provide practical first-hand knowledge in a more elaborative way.

Hostel Facility

The hostel facility is available on college campus separately for boys and girls. All basic infrastructure is included. A wide dining hall hygienic mess is provided. A recreational room with equipment for the indoor and outdoor game is available. The rooms are single student type and twin sharing basis type. Each room consists of a bed, table, cupboard, and bookshelf.
