The Indian Law Institute is an autonomous body established in 1956. The college was originally founded for legal research but went ahead with its growth in terms of imparting legal knowledge and spreading the awareness of the importance of legal education. The college now focuses on showing the importance of legal awareness in the country and promoting systemization of Law. Many government officials likeHon'ble Chief Justice of India is the ex-officio President of the Institute,The Law Minister of Government of India & the Attorney-General for India are its ex-officio Vice Presidents.
Approval
The Indian Law Institute has been granted Deemed University Status in 2004 vide Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification No. F.9-9/2001-U.3 dated 29.10.2004.
Admission Eligibility
An applicant holding L L .M. Degree from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks is eligible to apply for Ph.D. in Law.
LL.B. Degree (with not less than 50% marks) from any University / Institution recognized by Bar Council of India as eligible for enrollment as an advocate in India.or A Law Degree from a foreign country with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for L.L.M one year program.
Minimum qualification for admission to the P.G. Diploma Programmes is a Graduate Degree from a recognized University. 5% weight will be given to the Law Graduates for Admission to all Post Graduate Diploma Courses.
