Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University is a state-run university established in 2008 by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu. The university works with the vision to provide international standard teacher education to the youth. The university runs under the guidance of Chancellor Hon’ble Thiru Banwarilal Purohit.

The focus in not only to impart subject knowledge and skills, but to instil better conduct and character values committed to the nation and society at large. The establishment of TTEU was provided by enactment of Act No. 33 of 2008. The act came into effect from 1, July 2008 by Gazette Notification issued in G.O.M.S.256 Higher Education (K2) department dated 25, June 2008.

There are 668 colleges affiliated to the university which included a number of government, aided, self-financing colleges with autonomous status.

The university conducts one UG programme that is B.Ed. and 2 PD programmes (M.Ed. and M.Phil.).In order to apply for B.Ed. course, the candidate is required to have undergone 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern of study and passed the respective State Board/ CBSE exams recognised by UGC.

Application and Admission Procedure

How to Apply

The admission process of TAMIL NADU TEACHERS EDUCATION UNIVERSITY is offline. The application forms will be available in 13 centres all round the country. Candidates need to fill in the application form correctly providing their educational and personal details. They are also required to attach the required documents, pay the application fee and submit the entire set to any of the 13 centres.

The documents which need to be attached are:

Copies of

• Age proof

• 10th, 12th boards mark sheet, bachelor’s, master’s degree mark sheets as applicable

• Score cards for entrance exams as applicable

• Migration, transfer and character certificate from the institution last attended.

• Recent passport sized coloured photographs

Admission Procedure

The admission procedure varies across courses. Selection of candidates applying for B.Ed programme will be on the basis of the marks scored in the last qualifying exam. The admission to the PhD courses will be based on the entrance test conducted by the university. Candidates need to complete the admission process by visiting the allotted college.
