Sri Sankara Dental College, Varkala was established in 2005 under the aegis of The SR Educational and Charitable trust to prepare students for a bachelor's degree in Dental Surgery. The Dental College & Hospital are committed to provide state of the art facilities and health care to the community of the region. The main aim is to provide quality education by creation of a centre of academic excellence for promoting studies in kerala and also aims to serve society by providing better health care facilities as well.

Academic Excellence-The college has consistently produced toppers at the university level in various batches and examinations. Its students have also achieved notable academic success in the fields of Periodontics and Orthodontics.
Awards- Prestigious awards such as the Perio Gold Medal in the Exam conducted by SPIKhave also been won by the students of this college.
Clubs: Pride-the clinical club, Cultural club, Sports Club, Women’s cell. The college also continuously hosts a wide variety of events like the Dental Premier League, Calicorth, Denture distribution and oral cancer awareness camp, Public Awareness program 'Prathyasha.

Eligibility
To pursue MDS at Sri Sankara Dental College students must satisfy one of the following eligibility criteria-
1) Candidate has completed a 3 year course in BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) from a recognized university.
2) Candidate who has completed a 2 year PG diploma approved by Dental Council of India are eligible to pursue a MDS course in the same discipline.
Admission Procedure
Please note that in a non-governmental institutes, 50% of the seats will be filled by management of the institute. Academic merit should be considered while granting admission under management quota. Rest 50% seats will be filled by competent authority based on the academic merit of the candidate.
Academic merit of a candidate will be determined based on the performance in competitive exam conducted by the state governemnt or competent authority or centralized competitive exam conducted at the national level.
Candidate must score at least 50% marks in the competitive exam. For SC/ST/OBC candidates the minimum percentage required is 40%.
Performance in first, second and third year of BDS exam can be considered to determine the academic eligibility of the candidate.
