Dr.Gill is a philanthropist by nature and a doctor by profession. He obtained his MBBS and MD (Internal Medicine) degree from Govt. Medical College Patiala. He established Adesh Hospital and Research Centre at Muktsar in the year 1991 & started Paramedical courses including P.G. courses. In 2005 he reached the pinnacle of medical profession with the setting up of the prestigious Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Bathinda of International standards that provides medical education and research to southern Punjab, northern Rajasthan and Western Haryana.He has established himself as a dynamic entrepreneur and a committed planner who has achieved International fame for imparting quality education. The latest venture of the Adesh Foundation is establishment of Adesh Institute of Dental Sciences & Researchoffering B.D.S. with 100 annual intake from academic session 2008-'09 in the adjoining campus of the Medical College.
The University Grants Commission has inspected the total infrastructure, facilites and growth potential of the Adesh Institutes through an Expert Committee comprising members from various Councils, Universities and Statutory bodies. The UGC has unanimously recommended for conferment of Deemed University status on account of high quality infrastructure, equipment and faculty created by the ADESH FOUNDATION under Section 3 of UGC Act to the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.

BDS COURSE
The course of students leading to the award of the degree of BDS shall last a minimum of five academic years and is subject to the rules and regulations Adesh University.

Eligibility
To pursue MDS at Adesh Institute Of Dental Sciences And Research students must satisfy one of the following eligibility criteria-
1) Candidate has completed a 3 year course in BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) from a recognized university.
2) Candidate who has completed a 2 year PG diploma approved by Dental Council of India are eligible to pursue a MDS course in the same discipline.
Admission Procedure
Please note that in a non-governmental institutes, 50% of the seats will be filled by management of the institute. Academic merit should be considered while granting admission under management quota. Rest 50% seats will be filled by competent authority based on the academic merit of the candidate.
Academic merit of a candidate will be determined based on the performance in competitive exam conducted by the state governemnt or competent authority or centralized competitive exam conducted at the national level.
Candidate must score at least 50% marks in the competitive exam. For SC/ST/OBC candidates the minimum percentage required is 40%.
Performance in first, second and third year of BDS exam can be considered to determine the academic eligibility of the candidate.
