The college is privately owned and was established in 2001 by 22 industrialists through the funding from their startup trust called the Kalyan Bharti Trust. It is located in the Kolkata, West Bengal. It is affiliated to the Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and has been accredited by the NAAC with a “B++” grade. It is approved by the AICTE and UGC.
The mission of the college takes in its purview both tradition and modernity and expects to prepare students by the confluence of both to compete successfully on a global level.The motto of the college is “Be Your Own Light.”
The campus is calm and suitable for an educational environment. It has a lecture room, a tutorial room, computer centre, indoor and outdoor games room, transportation, medical and dining facilities.

Hostel and Facilities
Heritage Institute of Technology offers hostel facility for boy and girls. The rooms are limited in number so the rooms will be given on the first-come first-served basis. The rooms of the hostel are equipped with basic furniture that is necessary for students.
Other facilities that are provided in the hostels include a dining hall, health care, common room, cafeteria, electricity supply, generator, water supply, fire fighting services, TV rooms, recreational room, banking, sports complex, indoor game, internet connectivity and transportation.
Beyond academics, the college also takes care of the student’s extracurricular development. For this, college organizes many events, seminars, workshops and also offers so many activity clubs and societies which students can join according to their interest.
