Remarks
One of the winning points in my choosing this college was the wide selection in the course you choose. For example I am currently doing BSc non med with my majors in mathematics, statistics and information technology. While other colleges under the same university only offer subject composition of physics, chemistry and maths or physics, maths and computer science. College is all about exploring your options and choosing what to major in - which concept is sadly a little alien to Indian colleges or more specifically north Indian colleges. So to be in a place where I got to choose my subjects under the course I wanted was a big blessing. This college in only the short period of three months has given me confidence, perspective and tons of knowledge. With great educational quality, faculty, infrastructure and a tons of extra curricular activities for personality development. All in all this college is great place for anyone to everyone where you get a good education, exposure, opportunities and an experience of a lifetime.
Entrance Exam
Admission criteria is a merit list based on 12th board marks. The admission is done under the centralised admission of all colleges situated in Chandigarh under Panjab University. In the form one has to fill out the courses interested in and preferences of colleges. Then a list of students admitted to colleges is displayed on the website and first counselling is done the day after. there are total 4 lists and 4 counselling in total and admission is based on merit, preferences and availability of seats.
Fees
course fee depends upon different courses and is mostly affordable and the educational quality and placements we get here are more than worth the course fee asked. the course fees does change a little every year and is also under the guidelines by the Panjab university.
Placements
Our college does have a placement cell which helps student with various career activities. Advertisements related to jobs and examinations are frequently posted on the notice board. Many experts are called to give lectures to the students regarding the new trends and job opportunities and give them a real idea about the real work out there. industrial visits are also organised from time to time to help students get a good about working in the corporate sector. Around 70 reputed companies like Ranbaxy, Reliance, Tata , google have visited the campus repeatedly for campus placements. further more Corporation Bank (A Govt. of India Enterprise) has enlisted our college for the recruitment of Probationary Officers for the bank.
Hostel and Facilities
There is both girls and boys hostel available with 300 and 275 seats respectively. the quality of rooms and mess food is pretty good. other than that a lot of PGs can be found in the same sectors or the nearby sectors. Girls hostel however has strict rules like timings till 5 compared to the boys hostel.
Alumni
SDAAC (SD ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CHANDIGARH) is a pretty strong network of our college's alumni who have done distinguished amount of work in various sectors of the society. From justice Rajesh Bindal (Judge, Pb. & Hry. High Court) to Mr. Sunil Grover (Film and TV Actor) all are part of the SDAAC . the SDAAC participates in various college activities and functions and also organise the annual blood donation camp and conduct meetings for the welfare of the college.
Faculty
Now the major part of any college is it's educational quality afterall it is an educational institution. Teachers and professors we had were really great, helpful and informative and from the first day I was hooked in studies. When you are genuinely interested in learning and get to learn what you want and in addition have the most amazing faculty you are bound to be successful. This college in only the short period of three months has given me confidence, perspective and tons of knowledge. Another great thing is that here we have numerous numbers of extra curriculars going on all the time so the people who are talented artistically have enough platform to enhance and develop their skills under the guidance of qualified professionals.
Campus Life
The college has a great infrastructure with library, digital library, IT block, Auditorium, Mini Auditorium, direction signs etc. Another great thing is that here we have numerous numbers of extra curriculars going on all the time so the people who are talented artistically have enough platform to enhance and develop their skills under the guidance of qualified professionals. Politics was in the air for the first month or so as the elections were approaching and I got to witness one of the most decent, exciting and joyous election and since this was the first time I got to vote, it will always be a pleasant memory.
Academics
Exams are conducted under the guidelines by the Panjab University. we have semester end exams in December and April- May. these exams and the internal assessments accounts for our total result. we do have mid semester tests which have the same pattern and same level and helps prep the students for the real deal. Mid terms helps the students evaluate their personal educational development and help prepare for the semester end exams.
Internships
The college does not provide internship opportunities directly but a lot of internship opportunities do present themselves for the students in this college. the best way to gain experience is by joining groups like Enactus and Rotract which help a student develop his/her skills in business, marketing, graphic designing, content writing, research, finance and much more. These are unpaid but provide a lot of experience for the student.
Loans and Scholarships
College does provide concession in the tuition fees to economically weaker section and the university position holder.The college is duly registered at National scholarship Portal.
