Tarakeswar Degree College, Hooghly was established in 1986 is a relatively new college as compared to other colleges in the neighborhood. The college is a government aided college recognized by UGC and affiliated to University of Burdwan. The college never boasts of being a centre of excellence but it has definitely served as a model college in this region. The college may further plan to a set up a student’s empowerment cell whose objective would be to work round the year on a single theme of empowering students through varieties of programs. The vision of the institute is dissemination of learning among all members of the society across narrow barriers of caste creed and religion and also among the economically challenged.
