Nehru Institute Of Engineering And Technology (NIET) Coimbatore

Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology (NIET) is a private educational institution located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 2006. It is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.

It also has ISO certification (14001:2004). It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses, most of them under these departments:

• Department of Mechanical Engineering
• Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering
• Department of Aeronautical Engineering
• Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Admission procedure

Qualifying marks in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths, along with TNEA/TANCET entrance exam score, is the criteria for admission into the bachelor’s level courses.

For postgraduate admissions B.E. or B.Tech in the relevant subject with qualifying marks is required.

There’s a solar park, library, cafeteria, computer and engineering labs and transportation facilities within the campus. Tech Mahindra, HGS, AEGIS and Amazon are among the few top recruiters from the NIET.

The average package according to the latest statistics is 2.5 lakh per annum and the highest is 6.0 lakh per annum.

Cutoff and Placements

Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology (NIET) has a placement cell with the name Nehru Corporate Placement and Industrial Relations [NCPIR]  headed by Mr. Sanjiv Srinivasan (Head of Training and Development) and Mr. B. Lawrence Burer as the director.

NCPIR has total 10 members ensuring full exposure of students with the real corporate world in an easy way. Over 150 companies visited the college with a placement of more than 2000 students in the year 2017.

Placement procedure

1. Companies visiting dates or placement calendar are released by the college along with the requirement and eligibility for the nature of job.
2. The students get themselves registered for the college placement procedure through the college training and placement cell or through the college’s website.
3. After the interview and other procedure confirmed by the companies the list of selected students are released on the day of placement itself.

Application and Admission Procedure

How to apply:

Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology offers UG courses in Engineering and PG courses in Engineering, IT and business management. Application can be made to these courses through online method and offline method.

Online method: Students must register themselves on the college website and fill the form for the respective course and submit it.

Offline method: The application form can be purchased from the Admission office at the college. For this students need to pay via cash or demand draft. The fully filled form should be submitted at the office with these documents:

• Matriculation certificate and marksheet
• Intermediate certificate and marksheet
• Undergraduate certificate and marksheet
• Transfer certificate, Conduct certificate, Community certificate, Medical certificate and Migration certificate
• Five passport sized photographs and three stamp sized photographs

Admission procedure:

The eligibility criteria for admission into the UG courses is qualification of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Math as core subjects and score of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) test.

For Admission into postgraduate engineering streams, students must have 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) and required score in the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).

For postgraduate admissions in IT and management programmes, 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST/OBC) in any graduation stream will be considered.
