The college, named after the great national martyr Lala Lajpat Rai was founded by R.K. Trust in 1959. R.K. Trust was established by Sh. Lala Lajpat Rai in the memory of his father Sh. Radha Krishan. The college was initially named as Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial College and undergraduate classes of B.A. and B.Sc. were started. Owing to the untiring efforts of R.K. Trust, stewardship and able guidance of various Principals and ceaseless labour of the faculty, the college has made rapid strides in ensuring all round development of the students. The college has made commendable attainment in diverse fields– academic, sports, social service, culture and heritage. The institution was taken over by DAV, one of the most reputed organisations associated with spread of education in the country, in 1987, and it is indubitably, a matter of great pride and honour to be associated with such a great organisation as DAV that has always proved true to its meaning: Dayanand Anglo-Vedic i.e. to fulfill the dream of Swami Dayanand Saraswati to disseminate the precepts of Vedic culture with a clear recognition of importance of English language in our life and to adopt co-education system.
