Bajali College, Barpeta was established in 1955, with a view to remove the educational backwardness, provide accessibility of women to higher education, imparting science education leading to inculcation of scientific temperament among the rural mass and giving a standing to social needs and relevant assistance to the people of Bajali and its adjoining area.
Bajali is the name of a civil sub-division bearing semi- urban feature with its head-quarter at Pathsala under Barpeta district of Assam. The areahas age old reputation for its cultural and socio economic factors. Its farmer populace was deprived of higher education till then and there was no institution of higher learning in the entire Bajali area. Youths aspiring for higher education, were to go out of the area.
Most of them were from agro based families who were economically handicapped. So a group of enterprising social workers of Bajali under the dynamic leadership of Late Kameswar Das, a gold medalist in M.Sc (Mathematics) from Calcutta university, the first chairman of Assam Public Service Commission and an illustrious son of Bajali, founded Bajali College.

- Topper among those securing 75% or above marks at the H.S. Final examination of this college, stream wise.
- Topper among those securing ‘A’ grade at the H.S. first year examination of this college, stream wise.
- Student having highest attendance above 90% in classes, classwise.
- Kameswar Das Memorial Award for the student securing highest 1st class marks in Mathematics (Major) of the college.
- Jitram Das Memorial Award for the best Arts Graduate of the College.
- Kamala Prabha Memorial Award’ for the best Science Graduate of the College.
- Baloram Talukdar Memorial Award for the student securing highest 1st Class marks in Physics (Major) of the College.
