IIM-A was the second public Management College (after IIM-Calcutta) established in 1961. It has a sprawling 106 acres campus located in Vastrapur, Ahmedabad. IIM-A was established by the coalition of five major units- The Central and the State Governments, Local Industrialists, The Ford Foundation and the Harvard Business School. The institute believes in the motto “Progress through application of knowledge”.

The IIM-A has one of the richest libraries in the country. Named after renowned physicist Vikram Sarabhai, the library has over 1.93 million books and online subscription to over 24000 journals.

There are 33 well equipped dormitories to accommodate all the students in their own single rooms. Accommodation for married students and their families are also provided.

The IIM-A was ranked 1st by the NIRF in Management in the year 2017. ‘Chaos’ an annual fest organized by the IIM-A, is the largest fest in the region with over 50000 students from Ahmedabad and rest of the country taking part. Pro-nights are a fest for the eyes to behold with famous bollywood singers and stars taking the show.

How to apply?

The candidates need to register themselves through the official CAT website. For that, they need to select their preferred MBA programme offered at the institute and their choice of the city.

For online Registration process, the candidates need to visit the above-mentioned website and fill up the form by entering their personal and contact details such as name, email ID, mobile number and country. Before submitting the form they need to add Captcha and need to tick on "I Agree " checkbox.

After providing the captcha, they will get OTP SMS on their mobile number for verification. Then the candidates can get CAT User ID and password through email. Apart from that, they wil also get login password SMS on the Registered mobile no. from LM IIM CAT.

Once they can successfully register themselves there they can again sign in as ‘"Existing User" and can finish their form fill up procedure by entering their personal details (such as Gurdian’s name, full address, Date of birth, gender, nationality etc.,) their academic details, work experience etc.

Then, they need to pay Registration fee (for general candidate the registration fee is Rs 1700 but for SC/ST/OBC the registration fee is RS 850) through Net Banking/Debit Card /Credit Card. After successful payment of Registration fee, they need to upload scanned copies of their recent coloured photograph and signature.

The images should be in JPG or JPEG format. The size of the photograph and signature should be 30mmX45mm and 80mmX35mm respectively. Apart from these, the candidates need to download the certificate format of NC-OBC/SC/ST, PWD/DA, different academic certificates such as the 10th certificate, 12th or equivalent course details, Bachelor degree details etc. They need to fill up these formats and upload these along with the forms.

How to get Admit Card:

The candidate needs to download the Hall Ticket/Admit Card from the official website by entering their credential User ID and password.

To download it, first, they need to login to the official site and go to the homepage. After reaching the home page they can find Admit Card option. Finally, Admit Card displayed on the monitor. They need to take a print out of it and keep it safely for future reference.

Admission Procedure: The only gateway to this institute is CAT examination score.

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad is located in the Vastrapur region of the state. It has a sprawling campus of 106 acres with highly advanced Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Library, Louis Kahn Plaza, International management development center, R.J. Mathai Auditorium, a center for innovations, sports complex, various eating joints and merchandise stores.

Hostel Facility

Hostel facilities are present both for married as well as unmarried students. There are 33 fully furnished dormitories. The married students can opt for living with their families in well-furnished dorms and other students can occupy single rooms available. The other facilities in dorms are refrigerators, washing machines, and televisions. It is mandatory for all the students to live in dorms while they are studying at this institution.

Student Activity

Formal and informal debates and seminars are regularly conducted. Students are also given chance to take part various events organized at Inter college or national level.
