This great institution was Established in the year 1951 with a humble beginning with a modest strength of 150 students in the intermediate course as V.R.S. College, by the founder and chief donor Vutukuri Ramayya Sreshty with munificent donation of rupees one lakh.It was changed as V.R.S. & Y.R.N. College in the year 1962 after a munificent donation of rupees one lakh rupees by the chief donor Yarlagadda Ranganayakulu Naidu Charities.Ever since, it has been growing from the strength to strength and the stewardship of the Enlightened Management.
This college has been situated in a panoramic area of 110 acres of sandy serene and salubrious atmosphere in a sprawling scenic campus, away from madding crowds but not far away from the blue waters of Bay of Bengal. This institution has assumed a place of pride and become a pioneer in imparting Higher Education.
Besides running traditional courses like Intermediate, B.A., B.Sc.B.com. and M.Com (PG) courses, the management has pioneered the introduction of self-finance courses such as MBA, MCA, & M.Sc. (oils & fats). It is gratifying to note that this institution is first to introduce B.Sc. (Oil Technology) course in 1980 and it is the only Institution in the field of Oil Technology in South India.
The AICTE, New Delhi has sanctioned an Engg. College under the present Management in the year 2002 with CSE, ECE & EEE branches with a strength of 60 students in each branch. In the year 2009-2010 JNTU, Kakinada has sanctioned Polytechnic course to our College. In the year 2010-2011 AICTE, New Delhihas sanctionedM.Tech Program (CSE, EEE) to our College with a strength of 18 students in each branch.
The different courses running by the Management are endowed with a band of dedicated faculty working with missionary zeal.
Thousands of young boys & girls who passed out of its precincts re in high positions all over the country.
The 8 December, 1977 and 22 December, 2001 are a ‘Red Letter Day’ in the almanac of this Institution as the college has celebrated Silver Jubilee & Golden Jubilee respectively.
The college has grown out of the image of a Second Grade college to an Institution of the generation, well on its way seeking “Deemed University” status.The board will meet as and when necessary to discuss and make decisions for the development of the institutions and academic affairs.
