Eligibility

To pursue MBA at IISWBM students must satisfy following eligibility criteria.

The minimum qualification to apply for admission to the MBA Program is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 years of education) in any discipline which is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or any degree equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Secondary / Higher Secondary / Pre-degree Examinations (or equivalent) conducted by a Board / University.

Those appearing for the final year of the Bachelor's degree examinations may also apply subject to completing their examinations or viva-voce, if any, before June 30. Such candidates will however have to fulfil the above eligibility requirements in respect of minimum academic qualifications for admission and furnish evidence to that effect latest by October 31. At the time of interview and/or admissions, they will be required to produce a letter from their College Principal / Head of Institution stating the exam dates.

Candidates with appropriate industry experience will be given preference for admissions. Their work experience will be given due weightage in terms of the organization, position held and duration.

Admission Procedure

Selected candidates will be called to attend Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. Multiple Group Discussion & Personal Interview lists will be released in phases, both before and after the Application Deadline. The intimation for interview & group discussion is done through registered post and e-mail. In the case of some programs, Group Discussion may not be conducted, in favor of a rigorous interview process.

The selection criteria for calling candidates for admissions is based on multiple factors as follows:

  • Past academic performance
  • Quality & content of the answers in the application form
  • Work experience, if any , in terms of job content & organization
  • Group Discussion & Interview performance (applicable for final admissions only)
  • Extra curricular activities, other interests & accomplishments
  • Competitive Test score (CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT)

A combination of all the above factors are used to determine the eligibility of candidates to be offered final admission. Test scores are NOT the only criteria for selection.

A high test score does not guarantee a call for Group Discussion/Interview. The selection criteria are based on multiple factors as mentioned above.

    Remarks

The college is overall very nice. The management is efficient in their jobs. It would be better if  some more extra curricular activities are organised. It is one the oldest college for management studies in India as well as a reputed one so i took admission in this.

    Entrance Exam

College conducted Theory, Group Discussion and Personal Interview, it was pretty tough during this time. First one had to qualify the written exam in the framework of CAT, then a panel of 4 Faculty used to be there in the GDPI to choose students.

    Fees

It is feasible. For one-year pg diploma sports management, it is rs.1,600,000. For MBA, it is approximately 4 lakh for two years. Hostel and mess fees are taken differently. The college is partly non-profit organization. So, fees are less compared to many private colleges. The loan is also available. So students don't face any difficulty in studying here.

    Placements

Almost 90% of the students are placed every year. Companies like city bank come for MBA. They offer 6lakh p.a to some students. For sports management, average package is 25k per month.  Placement of other departments Is also impressive. Overall it is good.

    Hostel and Facilities

Hostels are good. Girls' hostel has an entry up to 9 pm. Boys have entry till 10.30 pm. The rooms are provided on sharing basis, two students are allowed to stay. Mess food is also good. Breakfast is provided, then lunch.

    Alumni

College seniors are extremely helpful. I had once taken their help for  a project and it was very helpful. It is like a family. They are ready to help us and treat us Iike their brother and sisters. There is no ragging.

    Faculty

Faculty is nice. They are always ready to clear doubts and help the students. We can even call them and they will clear our doubts at  any time. They are very knowledgeable. They are friendly as well. Students should always take this opportunity and take their help.

    Campus Life

Students from all over India come to study here. There are many students from southern part of India. Campus life is interesting. Students play table tennis, go to the gym. Debates are organized on regular basis.  The gender ratio is a bit more towards the boys side.

    Academics

In case of two years course, there are four-semester examinations. There are four midterms. Class assignments are also there. Marks are given on basis of that also. So everything should be given importance.

    Internships

Yes, they provide internship. but it is not compulsory for students and there are students who are working executives as well so we have already worked. But still it is good if you go for one.

    Loans and Scholarships

Majorly the scholarship is given for MBA students at daytime who comes via CAT exam, however being the prestigious MBA college and the first Management college of India, I felt there is an absence of several scholarships or loan facilities within the college, but people can get a loan from the banks nowadays.

    Remarks

The education and facilities provided by the institute is value for money and has a strict discipline approach to studies. The faculty is rich in knowledge and deadlines are followed. Regular seminars break the monotony of class lessons and provide field knowledge. Since it is a renowned university the degree from this carry a lot of weightage.

    Entrance Exam

I got admitted in the college based on my cat score, i had scored around 85 percentile and applied to this as i wanted to stay in my hometown only. I eas called for the interview and post cracking it i got admitted in here. The interview round was tough but if you have good knowledge about the things around you and have some managerial skills you will find it easy.

    Fees

The total fee i have paid was around 6 lacs is the fee for 2 years, one of the least expensive full time MBA options in India for a well renowned college. The other expenses alonh with this are the hostel fees and the fees for uniforms. The fee is value for money as the facility of the college and the placement are worth the investment.

    Placements

The placements are reasonable. In my batch over 90% of the students were placed rest were the ones who went back to family business or wanted start something of their own. The median salary is around 4.5 lacs with the highest package offered was 7.5 lacs per annum. The major companies recruiting are Icici bank, Dabur, ITC, Bose, Amazon and so on

    Hostel and Facilities

I'm a day scholar but the word around colleagues is that its very affordable and the rooms are on twin sharing basis with hyegienic washrooms and common rooms. However, the quality of the hostel was not that great and I had heard recently that they have improved that quality. The facilities were minimal and sparse with basic amenities like light, fans (no A/c, Wi-Fi, etc). Also it is almost impossible for local students to get a seat in the hostel.

    Alumni

The alumni network is quite varied and vast. Some have been very helpful, as they keep coming to recruit from colleges from where they have passed out. Some other alumni do not want to keep in touch with the colleges. My interaction with a senior alumni had deeply impacted by decision to join this institute as well as as apply at that place for internship.

    Faculty

The campus life was uite good for the time that we spent in college. There was a lot of intermingling of students across different streams - Mktg, IT, Finance, etc as well as other departments like Sports management, business management, human resource management, etc.In terms of gender ratio - it was skewed towards males. Extra-curricular was nothing available as there was no playground etc.

    Campus Life

    Academics

    Internships

The college does help students in getting internships but also students have the freedom to get internships on their own. Depending on the company you will be paid stipend. I did intern for a start up and it was an unpaid internship but the exposure i got there was something which i don't think you can learn anywhere. So in my views start up is a perfect place to start.

    Loans and Scholarships

One can avail of Central Government scholarship only if one has got 50% marks in his/her last examination and the Institute has tie ups with several leading banks which provides loans facilities.
