Delhi University is one of the top Universities of India and, is also known for its high standard education not only in India but across globe. Delhi University offer diverse courses for both Indian as well as foreign learners. But every student can’t afford full time education; therefore, Delhi University came with an alternative of UGC approved School for Open Learning (SOL) for students who want to pursue degree courses can enroll in the Delhi University distance education courses. It was established in 1962 and has enrolled more than 4 lakh students. SOL has come up with a vision of:

  • Complete virtualization – Online Classrooms, e-Learning
  • Students to have their own Tablets
  • Study material available over the Cloud Technology
  • Online Continuous Assessment

Application and admission process:

Application process DU SOL is both online and offline. For offline process students can visit north and south campus of SOL. For online process, application forms will be available on the official portal of the Delhi University.

Applicants can visit the official website of college by clicking on this link: https://sol.du.ac.in/home. Students can apply in any UG/PG courses after checking eligibility in particular courses. For UG courses the selection is on the basis of Merit but for PG courses, students who are of DU are selected on the basis of merit and student belonging to other university have to give the entrance. Applicants need to follow the following process:

  • Firstly, applicants have to register by filling their personal details.
  • Login the page.
  • Fill the course and document details.
  • Before proceeding to next step, verify the details properly.
  • Pay the application fee.
  • The final step of submitting the application form is payment of fees.
  • Mode of payment is online.
  • Application fee for unreserved category and OBC is RS 500.
  • Application fee for SC/ST/PWD is Rs 250.
  • Candidates opting for online mode for payment can submit the fees through:
  • Debit card/Credit card
  • Net Banking
  • Click on Final Submission.
  • Once the form is submit, no request of change in details will be entertained by the University.
  • Download the fee receipt and roll number.

Mandatory documents for admission process are:

  • Original 10th and 12th mark sheet and self attested photocopies of each mark sheet.
  • Original mark sheet of Graduation and self attested photocopies.
  • Original Migration certificate and self attested photocopies, if studied from another board apart from Delhi.
  • Original Provisional certificate and self attested photocopies.
  • Original Address proof.
  • Original identity proof.
  • Original Caste Certificate and self attested photocopies issued before the date of admission.
  • Original Domicile Certificate.
  • Copy of Ration Card (if applied under financial assistance).
  • Original Income Certificate and self attested photocopies (if applying for concession of fee).

Specialization/Courses offered:

The college offers UG/PG degree courses in the subjects of Arts/Humanities and Commerce fields. The School is also planning to give tablets at the time of admission to students with pre-loaded study materials and lectures. SOL also facilitates Personal Contact Programmes for students. There is no difference in the curriculum from regular courses offered by other colleges of Delhi University.

Eligibility criteria and Fees for various courses:

Reservation of seats in UG and PG courses for various categories are:

  • SC – 15%
  • ST – 7.5%
  • OBC – 27%
  • PwD – 3%
  • Children and Widow of eligible Armed forces – 5%
  • Foreign Nationals – 5%
  • Sports/ ECA category – upto 5%

The above heading shows various courses offered by College. The fees can be paid through Debit card/ Credit card/Net banking. But for PwD students fees will be deposited through Demand Draft in favor of the Executive Director, School of open Learning, University of Delhi, Delhi – 110007 from any nationalized bank.

For OBC: Must have secured 58.5% from DU in BA (Hons) Hindi.

For SC/ST/CW/PwD: They will be admitted as per DU rules.

8 M.Com. For General candidates: Must have pursued B.Com from DU with 65%-70%marks.

For OBC: Must have secured 60%-65% from DU in B.Com.

For SC/ST/CW/PwD: Candidate has to score 58.5% – 60% marks for admission.

For OBC: Must have secured 54% from DU in B.A (Hons) Sanskrit.

For SC/ST/CW/PwD: They will be admitted as per DU rules.

Relaxation for other categories:

  • For OBC – 10% relaxation in the minimum eligibility marks as prescribed for general students.
  • For SC/ST – Minimum passing marks in any one of the qualifying examination.
  • For PwD – 5% relaxation in the minimum eligibility marks as prescribed for general students.

Scholarship and funding:

The College offers fee concession and financial assistance to the deprived students.

  • Fee concession and Book Bank facility is provided to students whose family income is less than 2.5 lakh per annum.
  • Financial Assistance is given to students belonging to economically weaker section.
  • Under this student will receive Rs 2500 and exemption of tuition fees.
  • Students belonging to PwD category has to only pay admission fee all other University fee be waived off.

Placements:

  • The college has a proper Placement Cell established for the benefit of SOL students.
  • Some of the top companies that have come to College are: Dalmia Group, HDB Financial Services, ISA Global, NIIT Ltd.
  • The highest package till now was offered Rs 9 lakhs p.a.
  • The average package offered by the University is Rs 4-5 lakhs p.a.
