The university started as the Muhammadan Anglo Oriental College established by renowned reformer and statesman Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. By 1920, the single college had been transformed into the Aligarh Muslim University. The university has 12 faculties with 98 departments, offering courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It is UGC approved.

A pioneer in women’s education, AMUhas been successful in establishing Women’s College, whichadmits more than 2500 girls into various undergraduate programs/courses.

The following courses are offered by the university via the distance education mode –

Aligarh Muslim University’s Center for Distance Education(CDE)is proposing to launch more courses for the distance mode. For more details, visit the university’s CDE website at http://www.cdeamu.ac.in/courses.php

Please note that the medium for all the above mentioned courses is English, except for BA (Hons).

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The admission process is conducted offline only. The candidates can obtain the admission forms from the cash counters atCenter of Distance Education, Aligarh Muslim University, or any of its study centers, or download it from the Center of Distance Education website www.cdeamu.ac.in orwww.amuict.in on payment of Rs. 150/-.

The downloaded admission form must be attached with a demand draft of Rs. 150/- drawn in favourof Finance Officer, Aligarh Muslim University, payable at Aligarh at the time of admission.

The admission form can also be obtained via post by sending a demand draft of Rs. 200/- totheFinance Officer, AMU, payable at Aligarh along with a self- addressed A4 sized envelope affixing postal stamp of Rs. 60/- to the following address – The Director, Center for Distance Education, Nasheman Building, Opposite Sulaiman Hall, AnoopShahar Road, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh- 202002, Uttar Pradesh.

All the fees are to be paid by demand draft only, drawn in favor of Finance Officer, Aligarh Muslim University, payable at Aligarh. The list of selected candidates will be displayed at the Centre of Distance Education, Aligarh Muslim University and its study centers. The admissions for the session 2017-18 are open and the last date for submitting the application in all respects is 20th September, 2017.

REMEMBER THIS !

  1. If form is obtained from a study center, the form along with necessary documents needs to be submitted at that study center itself. If the form is obtained from the website or through the post, then it too needs to be submitted at the study center where you are interested to seek admission
  2. Check eligibility criteria before applying as they differ from course to course.
  3. The admission fee is non- refundable.
  4. . Along with the admission form, the prospective candidates need to submit self-attested photocopies of all the mark sheets/ certificates of all the examinations they have appeared for and cleared.

FEE STRUCTURE

The course fees for various courses are mentioned below (in INR). Being a deemed Government university, fee of most of the courses varies between Rs.3000-10000 depending upon the course.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The eligibility criteria for the courses is mentioned as follows-

  • BA (Hons), B.Com (Hons), Certificate in Communicative English – 10 + 2
  • All diplomas, postgraduate diplomas, M.Com, all MA programs – Graduation in any stream
  • Bachelor in Library and Information Science –graduation with 50% marks in any stream OR 45% marks with library sciences experiences of 5 years
