Assam Down Town University Distance Education Admissions 2023, Fee Structure, Eligibility

The Assam Down Town University, located in Guwahati and established by the Down Town Charity Trust, was opened in 2010 and has been offering programs in Engineering, Nursing, Paramedical, Management, Hospitality, Pharmacy, Life Sciences’ and IT programs.

It got approval from the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission (UGC) to in the year 2013 to offer programs in the distance mode. The university is currently offering courses in the fields of management and information technology providing more than 50 courses to over 3000 students from 10 Indian states as well as from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh

COURSES OFFERED

The university offers the following courses in the distance education mode-

• Bachelors of Science in Information Technology (B.Sc.IT) – this course is of 3 years duration, split into 6 semesters. Six semesters will have general subjects, while fifth and sixth semesters also have elective subjects
• Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA)– the course is of three years’ duration, with five semesters of general subjects and one semester of specialization subjects. The BBA program comes with 12 specialization options, which are- Finance, Human Resource, Marketing, Operations, Material, Supply Chain Management, Hospital Management, Banking & Operation, Hospitality, Mass Communication & Journalism, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Banking & Finance
• Masters of Business Administration (MBA) – the course is of two years’ duration. It comprises of two semesters of general subjects and two semesters of specialised subjects.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The admission process is conducted wholly online. First, you have to register yourself with a valid Email address here. After filling up the online application form by providing correct details, hit ‘Register’. You will receive an email to the ID you provided. Open the email, click on the ‘Verify Email’ option which will be present in the email. You will be redirected to the login page. Then, log in with your username and password, you can also use your phone number as your username.

You will come to the main admission form. Enter your personal details carefully, checking everything. Upload the certificates which bear your latest qualifications, and your photograph and signature. Submit the form, and the admission team of the university will get back to you shortly with details about further process and fee payment. The fee payment is also to be done online itself.

Before sitting down to fill the admission form, ensure that you have scanned files of all following documents and are available with you. These documents would include

• A recent colour passport sized photograph & signature of the candidate
• Matriculation certificate (as proof of date of birth)
• Certificate of last qualifying exam (class 12^th certificate/ graduation degree, depending on the course).

The above mentioned installments are to be paid before start of each year, on dates notified by the university. Apart from the course fee, an additional fee of Rs. 1,000/- is also to be paid as Registration Fee.

PLACEMENTS

The university has an independent placement cell, comprising of both faculty and students, helps the students in getting to know about both Indian and international prospective employers, job offers, training, summer internships and final placements. The placement cell also trains students in essential soft skills required for the public and private sectors such as personality development, oral and written skills and GD’s. The university also organised a job fair in January 2016 to allow students to meet company representatives directly and face- to- face.

DISTANCE MBA PROGRAM

The distance MBA program, started in 2013, has had close to 200 admissions. The course is of a two-year duration, with the 2^nd year dealing in specializations. The course costs between Rs. 31,000 to Rs. 35,000, depending upon the schedule of fee payment you opt. The university offers five specializations that the candidates can choose from for their second years as MBA students. The specialization options are as follows-
