Jamia Hamdard was declared as a deemed university by the Government of India in 1989 on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission. The School of Open and Distance Learning was established in 2004. There is no age bar for admission in any of the distance education courses.

 ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The admission form, prospectus and information bulletin can be obtained from the School of Open and Distance Learning office in the main campus of the university. It can also be downloaded from the distance learning website http://jamiahamdard.edu/open-and-distance-learning/ . Read instructions given in prospectus and the eligibility criteria carefully before filling the form. The form is to be filled in capital letters. Fill in the form with care, and ensure that the signature, address and passport- sized photograph is confined within the spaces provided. The spelling of the candidate’s name should be the same as that in the matriculation (Class 10) certificate. Other instructions related to filling of the religion, caste, gender, state of domicile, etc. is to be found in the prospectus, and is to be read carefully to fill the form accurately. The lists of all the codes are mentioned at the end of the prospectus.

Do not staple or attest the photograph. The copies of following documents are required to be submitted along with admission form – mark sheet and certificate of qualifying examination, certificate of matriculation, mark sheets of all examinations passed, date of birth certificate, caste certificate and passport, if applicable. Keep the form and certificates unfolded and enclose them in A4 sized envelope or bigger. It should be addressed to Director- cum- Dean, School of Open and Distance Learning, Convention Center, Jamia Hamdard, Hamdard Nagar, New Delhi – 110062.

The form has to be submitted with an application fee in the form of a demand draft drawn in the favor of Jamia Hamdard payable at New Delhi. Otherwise, the form will not be processed. Write the name of course opted and name of candidate on the reverse side of the demand draft. Note that the application fee is non- refundable. All the fee and charges are to be paid through demand draft of the above specifications only. The admission provided on the submission of application form and fee would be considered provisional only, and will be completed on submission and verification of original documents and checking if the candidate meets the eligibility criteria for the chosen course or not.

If a candidate has appeared for the qualifying admission and has not received the result as yet, he/ she can still apply for the provisional admission. However, the candidate must furnish the original mark sheet as proof of required eligibility by 31st August 2017 for the academic session 2017-18, failing which the provisional admission provided to the candidate would stand cancelled automatically.

The list of admitted candidates will be displayed on the university web site www.jamiahamdard.edu soon after the admission process or processing of applications is completed. The selected candidates will then be required to pay the course fee and examination fee at once by demand draft.

Note that the university has no study center outside its main campus in Delhi, and students are advised to beware of fraudulent institutions claiming to be affiliated to Jamia Hamdard in any way.

FEE STRUCTURE

The total course fee per annum, including examination fee, for various courses is mentioned below in rupees. Note that the minimum duration for postgraduate diplomas in one year and maximum is two years. The minimum duration for completion of bachelor’s degree courses in three years and a maximum is six years.

The eligibility criteria for the distance education courses are given below. There is no age limit for any course.

Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs. Bachelor of Pharmacy or MBBS or Bachelor’s degree with one year experience in pharmaceutical industry, clinical research, regulatory affairs and IPR
Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Therapeutic Nutrition Bachelor’s degree in Home Science or Biological Sciences

The university has been accorded ‘A’ grade by the National Accreditation and Approval Council (NAAC). The university is recognized by University Grants Commission.
