Netaji Subhas Open University is a government(West Bengal) run open university. It was started in 1998 with only Bachelor’s degree programs in Arts and Commerce. The university started its Bachelor’s degree programs in January 2000, post graduation in Mathematics in 2002, and post graduation in History and in Social Work in 2004.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The admission process is conducted partly online and partly offline for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. For the online mode, visit http://bdp.wbnsouadmissions.com/(undergraduate) and http://pg.wbnsouadmissions.com/ (postgraduate) and after reading the notifications, click on the link to fill application form.

Before filling it, keep digital copies of your passport sized photograph and signature, both of which should be less than 50 kb in size. Take a printout of the completed admission form.

Those who want to opt for offline fee payment should also take a printout of the bank challan. Attach photocopies of supporting documents (marks sheet of last qualifying exam, matriculation marks sheet, proof of date of birth). Take the computer generated admission form and the photocopies of documents to your study center to get it checked and verified. Make sure they put the official stamp on your application.Then proceed to payment .

For offline mode, visit a branch of Allahabad Bank after 48 hours of document verification and pay fees in cash. For online payment, visit the portal, where you’ll be redirected to the payment gateway and you can pay via credit card/ debit card/ net banking. After getting an SMS confirmation of payment, visit the website and take a printout of payment confirmation receipt and receipt of SLM’s.

Visit the study center with payment confirmation receipt, application form, supporting documents in original and photocopies. You will be issued a copy of the prospectus, which will include a perforated enrolment form, Annexure I and Annexure II. Fill these, and submit them along with payment confirmation receipt, admission form, and self-attested photocopies of documents to complete the admission.

For admissions into all certificate and diploma courses, the process is offline. Visit the study center with supporting documents as mentioned in the ‘eligibility’ section for verification. Get a demand draft for the requisite course fees drawn in favour of Netaji Subhas Open University, payable at Kolkata. Mention name and phone number on reverse side of the demand draft. Visit the study center again with a recent passport size photograph, photocopies of documents and submit the demand draft. Receive the stamped and signed payment slip from the supervisor along with a prospectus. Fill the perforated enrollment form, and submit it along with self-attested photocopies of supporting documents.

FEE STRUCTURE

The fee structure differs from stream to stream and from one level of education to the other. Following are the course fees (in INR) for the programs-

The fees to be paid at the time of admission includes a third of the course fee and an admission fee which includes the following charges-

  • Registration Fee Rs. 150/-
  • Fees for Identity cum Registration Card Rs. 100/-
  • Annual Development Fee Rs. 175/-
  • Fee for Prospectus Rs. 150/-
  • Migration Fee Rs. 25/-
  • Bank Charges Rs. 35/-(for payment through offline mode) OR payment gateway charges (for payment through online mode)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

M.Sc. Zoology, Geography 10+2 with 50% in Geography
M.Sc. Mathematics Honours graduate in mathematics/ scored 55% marks in mathematics (for other graduates)
M.A Graduate of any recognized University and have studied at least 300 marks in respective subject and passed successfully
Bachelor of Library and Information Science ·         45% for honours graduates, 50% for pass graduates

Dates for post graduate course admission for session 2016-17 are as follows-

  • Verification and Endorsement of Application Form from Study Centers- 27th August to 11th September
  • Online fees collection- 27th August to 13th September
  • Offline fees collection through Bank Challan- 29th August to 13th September
  • Final submission of Application Form to the Study Centers after payment of Fees- 27th August to 18th September
