Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University started on 2 July 1916 with the enrollment of 5 students. This started when Bharatratna Dhondo Keshav Karve decided to start an ashram for windows in the year 1896. He started a schooling for women and girls in the ashram as this was essential to make women self-sufficient and confident. This gradually took shape as Women’s University.
On 5th July 2016, the university marked 100 years of its existence with being the first women University in India and Southeast Asia. With over 70000 students enrollment, this university has campuses at Churchgate, Santacruz-Juhu, Pune.
Admission Procedure
Since 2016 the online mode of application has also been added in admission procedure.
ONLINE APPLICATION PROCEDURE
To apply online a student should connect to the internet and provide basic Registration Information and register them on the website. The applicant will receive username and password on email and mobile number. On verification, students should login into their accounts and start filling the required details and upload documents like photos and signature. After this select your course and affiliated college/university that which is runs the course of your choice. At last print your form, attach required documents, purchase the prospectus and submit the complete application form along with documents in college.
Scholarships
No scholarships are available for students applying to this university.
Eligibility Criteria
There are three different courses offered by this university. The eligibility criteria differ for each course.
For undergraduate courses (three-year long course) a candidate to be eligible should have passed XII standard conducted by different divisional boards of Maharashtra State board of Secondary education and Higher Education or equivalent.
For master degree courses, any candidate graduate in any discipline from a recognized university is eligible to apply for Master Degree course.
In the case of Diploma courses, graduate in any discipline with 50% marks for general category candidates and 45% marks for the reserved category from an Indian Recognized University.

Last Date
Last date for undergraduate admission form submission is 10th July. For students seeking admission in Master Degree Courses should send the application form by 18th July.

Distance Learning course
The center for distance learning at SNDT has various courses ranging from Bachelor of Arts to Master Degree programs and Diploma Programs. To get enrolled in Distance Learning Courses, women’s need to clear a University Entrance Test (UET) in arts and commerce separately.
The Eligibility for undergraduate programs will depend on the clearing of UET. This test consists of four papers and each paper is of 100 marks. The medium of Instruction is English, Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati. Women have to be 18 years or above old to write UET. The length of course is three years.
In the case of Master Degree courses and Certificate courses, a student has to be a graduate in any discipline. The length of certificate course varies from 6 months to 1 year.

FEE
The fee for all P.G. Diploma courses varies from 15,000 to 20,000.
Examination fee of 1600 per semester has to be paid at the time of registration. Whereas the fee for MA-I and MA-II for freshers is Rs 3655.
