Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) Distance Education Admissions 2024, Fee Structure, Eligibility
The Uttarakhand Open University was established by the Government of Uttarakhand in 2005. The university provides around 109 programs varying from certificate courses to post graduate courses. The university also has over 300 study centers spread all over Uttarakhand which are organized under 8 regional centers of Roorkee, Haldwani, Uttarkashi, Dehradun, etc.
The university makes use of technology and personal contact programs to reach a large number of students. The main objective is to help learner develop skills that will make them employable. The university caters to women, tribals and other sections of the society left out by formal education system.

Admission Procedure
Online admission facility is available for all the courses. The prospective candidate needs to visit the university website http://online.uou.ac.in/ and fill the admission form. The fees can be paid only online through a payment gateway system, that is, through debit card, credit card or net banking. Scanned copies of the original documents should be uploaded with the application form. Students also need to submit a signed certificate in the given format.
The student can download study material online from university website and avail 15% discount on program fee.
For offline admissions, the candidates can buy the university prospectus along with admission form from the university head quarter or study centers. The price of the prospectus is Rs.100. The university admission form can also be downloaded from the website. Fill the form given at the end of the prospectus carefully, after reading the rules, regulations and guidelines to filling up the form. Similarly, download the bank challan and submit cash payment in bank.
The candidate then needs to submit following documents at the study center for verification –
- The admission form
- bank payment receipt
- self-attested and attested photocopies of documents
- a signed certificate
Once admission is confirmed, student will be allotted an enrollment number. Students can also download their identity card online.
The candidate needs to get all the education certificates, caste certificates verified from the learning support center within a month. This is applicable to all candidates.

The above eligibility criteria are for direct admissions only. For details about admission through lateral entry, check the website. Direct admission is applicable only to courses without entrance test. Most courses do not have any age criteria.
Fee Structure
The university offers under graduate, post graduate, diploma, pg diploma and certificate distance education courses. The total fee for UG courses is Rs.9,450-45,800. The total fee for PG course is Rs.7,800-53,500.
The fees is paid in installments, either before each year, or each semester.

Approval and Accreditation
The university is recognized by Government of Uttarakhand and Distance Education Bureau (DEB), University Grants Commission (UGC). It is member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Placements
The university has a placement cell. It also holds workshops on personality development and soft skills to hone students’ market skills.
Important Dates 2019-2020
Last date to apply for distance education programs is 15th February 2020. Students can also apply by 29th February after paying late fee of Rs.250/-.

The university works under 3 tier system – University head quarters, regional centers and Learning Support Centers (study centers) . Regional center co-ordinate between university head quarter and learning support centers. Learning support centers help students with admission and contact programs.

Distance MBA Program
The university offers an MBA program of two years duration.
Eligibility – Students who have scored at least 50% at graduate or post graduate level or those who have scored 45% at graduate level with have 2 years’ supervisory/ managerial/ professional/ teaching experience are eligible for this course. 5% relaxation is available for the reserved categories.
Admission Procedure – The admission will be granted on the basis of the entrance test conducted by the university or candidates’ MAT/CAT score. Entrance Exam form is available for Rs 1000.
Candidates successful in entrance test will go for document verification at the university. Following documents are needed for verification in original –
- Filled Application form
- Self-attested copies of 10th/12th Marksheet and certificate, UG/PG marksheet and certificate, Experience certificate and category certificate if applicable
MBA Fee Structure – The total fee for the distance MBA course is Rs. 33,000/-.
