Why Distance MBA in Bangalore University (BU)?
Bangalore University is an offshoot of the University of Mysore. In the year 1976, The Directorate of Correspondence Courses & Distance Education of Bangalore University was established.
Bangalore University Distance Education offers different courses in Under Graduate degrees, Post Graduate degrees, P.G. Diploma, Diploma and Certificate courses under the corresponding scheme (FX), open university scheme (OU) and external scheme (EX).
Bangalore University does not offer any distance courses as of now. Students can join the full-time programs offered by the university or consider distance MBA programs offered by other institutes/universities.
Correspondence Scheme (FX) scheme
The Correspondence Scheme (FX) scheme offers B.A, B.Com, B.B.A, M.A (all Subjects except Sanskrit and French), M.Com, M.Sc (Mathematics), Diploma, P.G Diploma and Certificate Courses. Admission to all these courses is based on minimum educational qualifications.
Open University (OU) scheme
Under the Open University (OU) scheme, attainment of minimum qualifications is not mandatory but the candidate should be at least 18 years of age. They offer courses in B.A & B.Com.
External Scheme (EX) scheme
The External Scheme (EX) scheme is offered to the students pursuing M.Ain French &M.A in Sanskrit. They do not require minimum qualification but they are not provided with study materials unlike the previous two schemes.
Approval
A 5-star rating was accredited by NAAC to Bangalore University. However, they were re-accredited with an A-grade in their 2nd and 3rd cycles in the years 2008 and November 2016 respectively.
Ranking
- Ranked 245th in Asia by QS World Ranking 2018
- International organisation i.e BRICS-2016 has given a 151th position to the university among all universities in the BRICS nations
- In the May 2016 issue of THE WEEK magazine, the Hansa Research Survey ranked the Bangalore University at 15th in the category of the “Top Multi-disciplinary Universities” at All India level
- 5th in the category of “South Zone” by the Hansa Research Survey
- 1st in the category of “State of Karnataka” by the Hansa Research Survey
Bangalore University Scholarships
There is an availability of scholarships provided by this university but it can be availed by only those falling under the backward classes. The stipend will range around Rs 15,000 per month depending on the performance of the student falling under minorities.
Bangalore University Distance Education Admission and Application Procedure
- For admission, the Candidates have to pay Rs 350/- towards processing fee in any one of the Bangalore-One/Karnataka-One Centres
- Then, they should enter the receipt number of Bangalore-One/Karnataka-One in the appropriate column of the application form along with their photograph during the submission of the application online.
- Lastly, the eligible candidates will be informed through e-mail/SMS
After selection, the candidates are required to be present in person along with their original documents as required.
Bangalore University Distance MBA Course
The college offers a 1-year PGDM program from the college of ISBR. The program offers specializations in Marketing Management (PGDMM), Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) and Business Administration (PGDBA).
The maximum duration for completion of the course is 4 years & in English medium only. These courses are offered under the correspondence scheme only.

Distance MBA Eligibility
The candidates seeking admission to these programs must have 40% percent marks in aggregate in Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree of a recognized University to be eligible for admission.
Candidates with work experience and candidates sponsored by a business or industrial concern would be given more preference.
Distance MBA Fee Structure
The total fees under correspondence and open university programs include registration, study material, contact classes, examination/marks cards and postal/intimation charges to be paid under one instalment corresponding to each subject.

Important Notes
- The above Fee structure might change, if necessary.
- An eligibility fee of Rs. 1600 in addition to other fee is required to be paid by the Students who have passed the qualifying examination from Other Universities outside Karnataka State
Students belonging to SC/ST and who are eligible, as well as unemployed, are eligible to claim reimbursement of the fee paid by them from Social Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka by applying for it through a separate application form.
