IIM Bangalore was the third IIM to be established in India in 1973, and is constantly ranked among the best business schools in India and the Asia – Pacific Region. IIM Bangalore, one of the premier institutions set up by the government, offers various post graduate diploma programs (equivalent to the MBA), and a Doctoral program.

The institute offers a top-ranked executive MBA program (ePGP) spanning a year in duration specifically for working professionals. This is full-time residential program. The program was ranked  at 50th position in the QS MBA 2023 Ranking.

IIMB EPGP (Executive Postgraduate Diploma) Overview

Executive Post Graduate Program in Management (EPGP) is a full time 1 year residential program. Executives with 5-12 years of work experience are eligible to apply for this course. In terms of academic curriculum, this course covers same set of management concepts as the flagship 2 year PGP course.

EPGP Course Structure

The academic year of the course is divided into five terms, of which two terms are devoted to core subjects, one term for international immersion (a special feature of the course), and two terms for elective subjects and specializations.

The students may also work on an “independent study”, and are also advised to work on a comprehensive project. The course also includes special events such as the start up conclave, Shikshu (An Alumni Mentoring experience), and various guest lectures.

Core courses are required courses for all EPGP students. These courses focus on basics of management. Students can opt for various electives post in term 3 and 5.

How to Apply

The admission will be held in three rounds, and the candidate may submit his application in either of the rounds. The candidate can apply for admission online through the website as given at: http://iimberpsrv.iimb.ernet.in/prod/sfonlapp.home

To apply to the course, the candidate will need to upload the following documents online in either jpg/jpeg/gif/png format:

• SSC, HSC & Bachelors’ Degree Transcripts
• Bachelor’s Degree Certificate
• GMAT / GRE Score Sheet
• Statement of Purpose
• Work experience letter or first and last pay-slips showing date of joining.
• Passport Size Photograph
• Caste / Community certificate if applicable
• Disability certificate for persons with disability

Besides these documents, the candidate also needs to furnish email id and contact details of 2 persons as references. These should ideally be people who have supervised the candidate’s work and are in position to evaluate his/her performance.

These referees will need to submit their references online.

The candidates will also need to pay non-refundable application fee of Rs. 3000 for round 1 and Rs.5000 for round 2.

The candidate will have to directly fill in the SOP in the application form online, and students applying from other countries where English is not the medium of instruction must produce a TOEFL score. Detailed information is available on the log in page of the online application.

Admission procedure

The admission process is highly personalized as the institute scrutinizes every student about his goals and potentials in management. The selection of the candidate is based on the following:

• Academic background
• Work experience
• GMAT/GRE score
• Statement of Purpose (SOP)
• Two reference letters
• Personal Interview and written ability test

The candidate must mention his GMAT/GRE Entrance exam score in the application. The average GMAT score for the year 2022 was about 709. There are separate deadlines to send official GMAT score for each admission round.

Based on these details, candidates are shortlisted for a personal interview. The interview panel consists of two faculty members of IIMB and one IIMB alumnus. The interview panel will evaluate the candidate’s performance based on quality of experience, leadership qualities, diversity among other factors.

Each candidate is assigned a score based on this evaluation.  A merit list is prepared based on this score.

IIM Bangalore Executive MBA Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for IIM Bangalore Executive MBA EPGP includes-Graduation in any discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50% or equivalent CGPA, a valid GMAT/GRE score and minimum 5 years of work experience.

• For SC/ST/PWD candidates should have minimum 45% or equivalent CGPA in graduation.
• The candidate should also have at least 5 years of experience as on 31-March-2023.
• Candidate should also have a valid GRE/GMAT score
• A statement of purpose
• Two references from current / previous employers

The program also has reservation for SC/ST/NC-OBC/PWD/EWS candidates per law.

EPGP GMAT Cut-off

There is no defined GMAT cutoff for EPGP admissions but the average GMAT score has been around 710 over last few years.

IIMB Executive MBA Fee Structure

The total fee for IIM Bangalore Executive MBA (EPGP) is Rs.23.2 Lakh. Accommodation charges are Rs.1.5 Lac for shared accommodation and Rs.3.5 Lakh for family accommodation.

The fee includes study material, library, alumni services, student activities, etc. International Immersion, is compulsorily a part of the course, and cannot be skipped. The institute provides bank assistance and education loan to support the academic fee.

The average salary offered for IIMB EPGP class of 2019-20 was Rs. 29.88 lakhs.

Companies such as Accenture IT, Amazon, British Telecom, Cummins, Google, Ericsson, HP, Microsoft IT, Samsung, Walmart, etc., have offered positions such as CEO, Associate Vice President, Head – Business Strategy, Senior Manager, etc.

The candidates interested in placements generally have to apply through the CDS office of IIMB by submitting a detailed Resume. Placement process starts with pre-placement talks, followed by placement interview sessions, and a final interview.

Ranking

EPGP was ranked  27th on FT Global MBA Rankings 2020. It was ranked highest among Indian B-Schools.

The institute was ranked number 1 under management category in NIRF 2019 ranking.

IIMB has been recognized as the best Business School in Asia by Eduniversal rankings for the consecutive year, and is ranked 4^th best in Asia by the QS (MBA – Asian) Rankings. Scholarships

IIMB offers 3 different scholarships to EPGP students –

• EPGP Merit Scholarship – This is a Rs. 3,00,000/- scholarship. It is awarded to students who rank in top 5 at the end of second term. Rank is calculated based on CGPA for term 1 and term 2.
• EPGP Admission Scholarship – This scholarship is given at the time of admission. An amount of Rs. 6,00,000/- is awarded to each of the top 5 candidates based on their admission score. The scholarship consists of fee waiver of Rs. 3,00,000 at the time of registration. Another waiver of Rs. 3,00,000/- is granted if the student stands in top 25% of the class at the end of term 2.
• EPGP International Scholarship – To attract more international students, IIMB offers Rs. 10,00,000/- scholarship to two students from SAARC, ASEAN and African countries. Rs. 5,00,000 is waived off at the time of registration and Rs. 5,00,000 is waived off at the time of first installment of fee payable.
