SHIVAJI UNIVERSITY DISTANCE EDUCATION

ABOUT:

The Shivaji University is a state university which is situated at Kohlapur in Maharashtra, and it was inaugurated by our former president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on 18^th of Nov. 1962. This university is spread over, with a campus of more than 853 acres, and it was named after ‘Shivaji Maharaj‘ who was the founder of the Maratha Empire. The university is having a strength of about more than 3,00,000 students studying in 293 colleges which are affiliated from this university. Initially, the Shivaji University offers regular programs only but since 2007 the university has started offering distance programs too after the establishment of the Centre for Distance Education (CDE) in 2005.

APPLICATION AND ADMISSION PROCESS:

• The interested students can apply for distance programs through an application form that needs to be filled online by the student himself. • The application fee is only Rs. 20/-, and all the required fees are to be paid through Internet Banking, Debit/Credit card, etc.
• Students have to register themselves online and then the printout of the filled form is needed to be submitted at the study centre along with some necessary documents.
• The last date for applying online is 25^th August 2019.

FEE STRUCTURE:

The Shivaji university provides education in 4 schools viz. Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Faculty of Humanities, and Faculty of Inter-Disciplinary Studies, And it charges an affordable amount of fees for the programs offered by CDE. The course-wise Fee structure is mentioned below in the following table:

The eligibility fee is needed to be paid only once at the time of admission and it is compulsory for all the candidates. The details of Eligibility Fee are as follows:

1. Student of Maharashtra State Board/Shivaji University – Rs. 75.00
2. Student of another Board/University – Rs. 300.00
3. NRI student – Rs. 500.00

The 1^st year Fee is to be paid by the candidate at the time of registration after the admission is confirmed to the candidate. The first and second semester fees should be paid together at the time of registration.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Shivaji University offers several scholarships for its students who are enrolled in various programs of the university. Each year the university gives about 500 scholarships among the students of all the different affiliated colleges. The scholarship details are given below:

1. Merit-based scholarship of Rs. 5000/- for every PG department for both the years.
2. Two scholarships each of Rs. 300/- in each subject per term.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

For admission to the various courses, the university has different eligibility criteria, the details are mention in the table below:

There are no defined age criteria for admission in distance courses.

There is a relaxation of 5% marks in graduation for SC/ST candidates who are applying for the MBA programme.

PLACEMENTS:

The Shivaji University has a well established Central Placement Cell since June 2005, It includes a team of Departmental Placement Officers (DPO’s) and Teacher Placement Officers (TPO’s), who mainly co-ordinates with Campus Placements and co-ordination with company’s HR/Institutes/ Industries.

The Placement Office is equipped with matchless infrastructure as mentioned below:

• Interview Rooms.
• Support for Online and Written, screening tests.
• Online systems for recruiters and students.
• Auditoriums to conduct pre-Placement presentations, and many more.

DISTANCE MBA COURSE DETAILS:

The Centre for Distance Education of Shivaji University offers distance MBA course with specializations, the whole course is divided into four semesters, i.e. 2 years of duration. This course caters the requirement of those working individuals who are not able to attend regular classes due to various constraints.

The eligibility criteria for this course is graduated in any discipline with at least 50% of marks from any recognised University, also there is a relaxation of 5% marks for the candidates belonging to the Reserved category (SC/ST).

The students who fulfilled the eligibility criteria are directed to apply for the MBA entrance test, which is mandatory for all the students who are willing to take admission in MBA distance course. The entrance test will consist of 100 MCQs based on Judgment, Comprehension, Numerical and Verbal Ability, Aptitude, Data Interpretation, etc.

Then the merit list of the entrance will be available on the official website within 1 month after the commencement of the test, and according to which the candidates are provisionally admitted.

For this course the university charges a very nominal amount of fees, the details are as follows:

The full course fee for one year is just Rs. 22,030/- only.
