What is AP POLYCET?

AP POLYCET or Andhra Pradesh Polytechnic Common Entrance Test is a state level entrance examination to take admission into different branches of engineering and non-engineering diploma courses like Architectural Assistantship, Applied Electronics& Instrumental Engineering, Commercial and Computer practice, Footwear Technology, Pharmacy, TV & Sound Engineering etc in various Govt. and Private Polytechnic colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

It has been conducted by The State Board of Technical Education & Training, Andhra Pradesh. It is a single window test. It is conducted once in a year.

Structure of AP POLYCET exam

Exam type: It is an offline mode or Pen -Paper based examination

Sections: It is a one paper examination which is divided into 3 sections.

These sections are-

  1. Mathematics
  2. Physics
  3. Chemistry

Mathematics sections consist of 60 questions. Each question carries 1 mark.

Under Physics section there are 30 questions. Each carries1 mark and the last section i.e Chemistry section also consists of 30 questions. All questions are of MCQ( Multiple Type question) types. Each question carries 1 mark. Total 120 questions are there and total marks of examination are 120.

Each question has 4 optional answers the candidate needs to darken the correct option among the 4 options. An interesting part of this examination is that there is no negative marking system.

Duration: Duration of this examination is 2 hours.

Language: All questions are printed in 3 different languages i.e Telugu, English and Urdu.

AP POLYCET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The applicant should be fulfilled the below-mentioned eligibility criteria.

Nationality and Domicile

  • The applicant needs to be Indian citizen
  • The applicant needs to belong to the AP state
  • The applicant needs to have domicile of AP state

Age Limit

  • There is no upper age limit
  • The minimum age of the candidate should be more than 15 years

Academic Qualification

  • The minimum qualification of the candidate is SSC (10th pass) by any recognized board.
  • The candidate needs to pass in every subject and get minimum 35 % marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry
  • The candidate appearing in the SSC or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.
  • The candidate who gets compartment can also apply for this examination but he/she needs to clear his/her compartment before the admission procedure.

Application forms and submission procedure

The application form for AP POLYCET Examination, 2018 will be available from 19th March 2018.

The candidate can get, fill and submit the application form through online as well as offline mode.

Before filling up the application form the candidate needs to read very carefully the instructions which are available in the AP POLYCET Booklet.

The applicant needs to follow 4 simple steps to complete this application form fill up procedure.

These steps are-

STEP-1: Registration

For registration process, the first candidate needs to go to the website.

  • After that he/she needs to click on Apply for AP POLYCET,2018, button
  • Then the candidate needs to enter his/her name, email ID and valid phone number
  • After that, the candidate needs to click on” Register” option.
  • A 6 digit user ID and password will be sent to the email ID which is provided by the candidate.

STEP-2: Form fill up

The candidate needs to fill up all details mentioned in the forms.

And then upload the passport size photograph, thumb impression, and signature. All images should be in JPG format. Moreover, all uploaded images should be in 30kb size.

The positive side of it is that the candidate can also change the information in the online application form within 13th April 2018 which is the last date of online submission of the form.

STEP-3: Payment of application fees

The candidate can pay the application fee through both online and offline mode. The candidate can pay through Debit care/credit card/ net banking.

For offline payment, the candidate needs to go to nearest AP POLYCET online centre/ E SEVA /MEE Seva or helpline centre and make the payment there.

The last step is printing of form: the candidate needs to take print out of duly filled up form and keep it for future reference.

Application form can be filled up through offline also. For that, the candidate needs to go to nearest helpline centre( List of helpline centre is given to the official website)

Admit Card

Like other examinations in this exam also, the candidate should have Admit Card to appear in the examination. To get the Admit Card the candidate either needs to go to his/her nearest Helpline Centre or can download it from official website.

The State Board of Technical Education & Training, Andhra Pradesh will start issuing online Admit Card for 2018 examination from 3rd week of April 2018. Without Admit Card/hall Ticket the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

The candidates can check their result through online. For that, they need to visit the official site. Then, they need to enter their hall ticket number. The exam authority issues the score/rank card few days after the official announcement of result.

Admission Procedure

The counselling procedure for AP POLYCET Examination, 2018 will start in the last week of June 2018. The counselling and seat allocation is completely an online process.

Therefore, after the result, the candidate needs to register online himself/ herself to get into the course. Apart from that, the candidate needs to get minimum cut off marks which are set by the State Board of Technical Education & Training, Andhra Pradesh.

Cut off marks varies from year to year it is only applicable to General /OBC candidates. For SC/ST candidates there are no cut off marks.

After the seat allotment, the candidates need to download it and report to the respective colleges/institutes.

At the time of admission, the candidates need to produce the below-mentioned documents.

  • SSC mark sheet along with Passing certificate
  • 12th mark sheet along with the Passing certificate
  • Hall Ticket, Score Card/Rank Card
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Passport size photograph
  • Category Certificate( Only for SC/ST candidate)

In this exam, there is a separate centre for Urdu medium candidates.

Notification

The Andhra Pradesh State Board of Technical Education & Training (SBTET) conducts the yearly Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (POLYCET) for candidates seeking admissions into Diploma courses in Engineering and non-Engineering schemes offered by polytechnic institutes.

The notification for AP POLYCET 2018 is yet to be released.

Syllabus

The AP POLYCET 2018 exam contains MCQ-type questions and is conducted offline for a duration of two hours. There are 120 questions to be solved based on class X Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. All questions are graded equally and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

AP POLYCET Result

The results of the exam will be released by the second week of May 2018 via online mode on the official website. A separate merit list based on the score obtained will be delivered. It is recommended that the candidate regularly visits the official website for updates regarding the declaration of results and the counseling process.

Cut-Off

Every candidate will be issued a score card mentioning their percentile. This percentile will be the basis of their admission in the respective college. The general category must secure atleast 30% (36 marks out of 120) in the test, while the SC/ST category does not have any minimum cutoff.

Score Validity

The validity of the examination score stands for the particular academic year only. Hence, the AP POLYCET 2018 score holds good for the academic year 2018-19 only. Every candidate will get only one chance to write the test per year. Request for multiple attempts will not be entertained by the organizing body.

Reservation/Seat Distribution

AP POLYCET 2018 Counselling Schedule

The counseling for AP POLYCET 2018 will begin from 30th May 2018onward. Students will have to fill up their choices online and verify their documents offline. The fees for the counseling is Rs 500 for general category and Rs 250 for SC/ST.
