What is NPAT?

NMIMS Program After Twelfth (NPAT) is an entrance test conducted by the NMIMS University. It is a gateway for students to get admissions into Undergraduate Degree and Integrated Degree Programs being offered by constituent schools of SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies at Mumbai, Shirpur, Bengaluru, Indore and Navi Mumbai Campuses.

Structure of NPAT exam

The exam will be conducted on Saturday 12th & Sunday, 13 May 2018.

NPAT 2018 is an objective exam with multiple choice questions and there will not be any descriptive question.

The paper consists of 3 sections namely:

  • Proficiency in English Language
  • Quantitative & Numerical Ability
  • Reasoning & General Intelligence

Each section has 50 questions each which make the total number of questions: 150.

Medium: The entrance exam will be conducted in the English language.

Further, it is candidates must also remember that the level of difficulty of the exam will be in accordance to SAT standard.

Is there negative marking? Yes, there is negative marking. For each Question for which a wrong answer is marked, 1/4th of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted as penalty.

NPAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Age criteria- It is important to remember that candidates above 25 years of age are not eligible to apply for any programme.

Below mentioned is the eligibility criterion for different courses-

Eligibility criteria for B.Tech.& MBA. (Tech)
  • The candidate must have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination with English as compulsory subject & with science or science vocational & minimum 50% marks in PCM for Mumbai campus & 45% marks in PCM for Shirpur campus. Those awaiting their 10+2 or equivalent examination result this year may also apply.
  • The candidates appearing for their final 10+2 or equivalent examination can also apply provided they obtain the required minimum cut off marks and they also produce all the necessary documents, in original, within the stipulated time as mentioned by the University.
  • Candidate with IB Diploma is eligible only if he/she has opted for Mathematics at higher level (HL)

Candidates passing Diploma Engineering with Minimum 50 % are eligible to apply

  • Candidates passing 10+2 or equivalent examination from Open or Distance learning (ODL) School recognized only by National Institute of Open schooling (NIOS)can apply for the program Subject
MBA-Pharma Tech (B.Pharm+MBA)
  • The candidate must have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent exam
  • Candidates must have Science or science vocational with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) at ther 10+2 level.
  • They must have English as compulsory subject Minimum 50% marks in (PCM/PCB).
  • Those awaiting their 10+2 exam result this year may also apply.
B.Com (Hons.), B. Sc. (Finance), BBA, BBA-MNS
  • The Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam
  • The candidate must have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate marks at 10+2 or equivalent examination for being eligible to B.Com. (Hons.) program & 60% aggregate marks for being eligible to B.B.A.& B.Sc. (Finance) Program.
  • Candidates must have passed in Mathematics/ Statistics at 10+2 or equivalent exam for being eligible to B.B.A / B.Com(Hons) / B.Sc (Finance).
  • Candidates with IB Diploma applying for B.B.A / B.Sc. (Finance) program are eligible only if he/she has opted for & passed Mathematics/ Statistics at higher level.
B.Sc. Economics
  • The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks. The candidate must have passed in Mathematics / Statistics at 10+2 or equivalent examination.
  • For IB candidate, the student must have Higher Level (HL) Mathematics/Statistics to be eligible for the program.

Application forms and submission procedure

The following steps need to be followed in order to complete the application process:

  • Step 1– Candidates need to first register themselves at the official site of NPAT
  • Step 2- Click on Register Now and fill out personal and educational details. Educational details include Class 10th / SSC roll number.
  • Step 3- Go to your mail box and verify
  • Step 4- A login and password will be generated.

The process for NPAT registration will start from 10th January 2018 and end on 28th April 2018.

Once candidates have registered themselves, the need to log in to the official site and complete the application process.

In order to complete the application process the following facts must be remembered:

  • Aadhaar Card is compulsory
  • Registration fee once paid is not refunded
  • Candidates can apply for multiple programmes in the same form
  • Candidates need to upload a photograph of themselves of not more than 6 months old in JPG format with 150*200 pixels dimension and less than 500 kb
  • Candidates have the option for appearing on both days of the exam i.e. on 12th and 14th May by paying fee for both the days

If the candidate has mistakenly missed out/wrongly submitted some parts he/she can edit those in their application form by 21 April 2018 (Only addition school/ program, change of exam date, change of test city will be allowed).

Once the application form has been filled, candidates need to pay the registration fee via online method to complete the application process.

Admit Card

Eligible candidates will be issued admit cards by NMIMS which they need to carry during the entrance examination. Candidates can download the NMIMS-NPAT admit card 2017 through online mode only. The admit card for NMIMS will be available on 7th May 2018.

It is important to remember that without the admit card or without the photograph on admit card, no candidates will be allowed to enter in the examination hall.

Candidates are advised to retain the admit card for further use. Candidates have to carry one of the following original ID proofs along with the admit card:

  • Admit Card of 12th board examinations
  • Voter ID
  • Driving License (Learning License will not be accepted)
  • School/College ID
  • Aadhaar Card

Admission Procedure

  • After the NPAT exam, the results for the same will be released from the 1st week of June. The results will be declared in the form merit list. Merit list for different programmes will be released one after another.
  • NMIMS will release three merit lists and the last merit list will be released on the third week of June
  • Candidates whose names will feature in the merit list will be called for counselling. The venue for the counselling will be NMIMS Mumbai campus. Counselling for each merit list will be held as per the dates mentioned on the website. It is important for the candidates to be personally present for the counselling process
  • In case seats have been left vacant after the third round of counselling a new round of merit list will be prepared and counselling will be arranged for eligible applicants.
  • Once the candidate has successfully cleared the counselling process, s/he has to pay the fee for his/her programme and then the admission process will be complete.

Notification

 

Although no particular notification is released for the NPAT, the registration process for the exam began on the 10th January 2018.

Syllabus

There are three different types of sections in the NPAT examination regardless of which stream you are aiming for. The three sections are Quantitative & Numerical ability, Reasoning & General Intelligence and Proficiency in English Language. The entire test has a duration of 100 minutes and there are 40 questions in each of the three sections.

The syllabus and the exam remain the same no matter which program you would like to be admitted into.  Only the B.Des program requires an additional paper which includes the subjects Spatial Ability and Visualization Skills, Observation & Problem Solving and General Awareness & Design Sensibility.

The merit lists for various programs will be announced at different times on the official website. The release of the first merit lists for the different programs are:

  • B.Sc Economics: Thursday, 31 May, 2018
  • BBA and B.Com: Wednesday, 30 May,2018
  • B.Tech and MBA +B.Tech: Friday, 1 June, 2018

For some programs, multiple merit lists are released one after another.

Cut-Off

As mentioned above, no cutoffs are released for the NPAT but merely a merit list will be released. Those who qualify will be called for counselling.

Score Validity

The score from the NPAT exam has a 1 year validity i.e if one appears for NPAT 2018 they will be eligible for admission in the academic year 2018-2019.
