This university is been formed in the year 1955 to give strength to educational research andother services in Veterinary Science, Dairy Technology and Fishery Science field in Andhra Pradesh state. This is one of the best University in veterinary science institutions in the country. It gives its students a quality of education with an excellent infrastructure. This University is also making students to get practical knowledge bygiving industrial exposure by letting them to work at veterinary hospitals.

- The University has done Conservation and upgrading of Punganur cattle through biotechnological techniques.
- The University has developed Marine crab and sea bass culture as an alternative species to Tiger Prawn.
