Fee Structure Of BRAOU, Hyderabad-Dr Br Ambedkar Open University

DR BR Ambedkar Open University also known as Telangana Open University is a public university set up through an Act of the A.P State Legislature. It was set up in 1982 in Hyderabad, Telangana. The university provides open/distance education.

The motto of the university is “Education at your doorstep” which is to provide higher education to those who are not able to pursue it through regular mode. This is an opportunity for those who cannot complete education due to different circumstances.It provides flexible techniques in eligibility criteria, age, method of learning, courses etc.

The University is spread across in 53 acres of land with impressive buildings, lawns and scenic beauty with tress and gardens. The campus comprise of Library, Study Material House, Conference Hall, Guest House, Administrative and Support block and more.

BRAOU has a total of 213 study centers in the states of Andra Pradesh and Telangana. The distinguishing feature of the university is that it provides a chance to prison inmates to pursue education in various fields. It has 6 exclusive study centers at Cenmtral Prison- Cherlapally, Warangal, Vishakapatnam, Rajahmundry, Nellore and Kadapa.

Application and Admission Procedure

BRAOU runs various courses and admission procedure is different for different courses. The university conducts its own entrance examination for admissions to all the courses offered. The candidates need to appear in the qualifying exam. The eligibility criteria are different for different streams though.

For admission to B.A and B.Com, the student must have successfully passed 10+2 examination from a recognized education board. For admission to B.Sc, the student must be from science stream.

Any graduate with a minimum teaching experience of 2 years is eligible for admission into Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course.

Students looking for admission into Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) must have passed 12^th standard examination from a recognised board.

Candidates with a graduate degree in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks are eligible for admission into Bachelor of Public Relations course.

Candidates having a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree are eligible for admission into Master of Arts (MA) under any stream.

Students having bachelor degree in any stream are eligible for MBA admissions. However, for admission into MBA (Health care) the candidate must have a graduate degree in any field except fine arts and oriental languages.

Hostel and Facilities

Hostel

Dr BR Ambedkar Open University is a non- residential university and offers no hostel facilities to the students. It does not have a mess either, but all kinds of food are available at the college canteen. Students can use the nearby PGs (male and female available) for accommodation.

Facilities

Library: A well- equipped library is available to access study recourses by students pursuing research, Post- Graduate, P.G Diploma, UG Certificate or Professional Computer Centre at the university. A variety of services like documentation, reference, lending of books to its clientele, inter- institutional loans etc are provided by the library. Currently, the university has a collection of 1,47,225 books and non- books material in different languages, 153 journals, 5 E-packages and a subscription of Cambridge University press.

SC/ST Cell: A special cell that looks into effective implementation of Government policies and follow up measures for ST/ SC students is established at the university.

Sessions: Telephone session and computer centre is available for the students of the university.
