About the Institute and Course

IEM, that is, the Institute of Engineering and Management is a private technological educational institution in West Bengal. The institute aims to impart education in management and engineering fields. IEM college of management is known for excellent management education. The two years full-time MBA program is affiliated with MAKAUT, that is, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology.

Application Procedure

Aspiring candidates can download the application form from the institute website – www.iemcal.comhttp://www.iemcal.com.

The candidates also have the option to collect the application from the institutes' premises.

The submission of the application form shall be at the institute's admission office with DD/cash for INR 2,000 in favour of 'Institute of Engineering & Management Trust' which is payable at Kolkata.

Selection procedure/Admission procedure

The selection procedure is based on the following factors:

• JEMAT/CAT admission test
• Personal interviews and group discussions are conducted by the institute.

Fee Structure

The overall fee for the 2 years MBA program that is divided into 4 semesters is INR 6,00,000. The fees for each semester are INR 1,50,000.

The fees can be paid through a demand draft in favour of the Institute of Engineering & Management Trust that is payable at Kolkata.

It should be noted that the institute has separate hostel facilities for both girls and boys. The hostel charges are INR 78,000 annually which shall include food and lodging. Additionally, INR 10,000 need to be paid as refundable security that has to be deposited at the time of admission.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for applying to IEM College of Management are given below:

• The candidate should have graduation or post-graduation in any field.
• Final-year students are also eligible for applying.
• The candidates should have obtained at least 50 per cent or those in the final year should obtain at least 50 per cent in graduation for applying for the MBA program.
• The candidates are also required to appear in CAT/WBJEE MAT as well as group discussion/personal interview.

Placement opportunities can be explored by the candidates from various companies recruiting candidates for different positions. The college has placed candidates in numerous renowned organizations including:

The various designations for which recruitment is done include manager, HR executive, IT analyst, Branch officer, product manager etcetera.

Ranking

The 2 years full-time MBA program offered by the institute is approved by AICTE. It has attained various ranks over the years such as:

• NAAC 2017 ranked the institute in the 'A' category.
• NIRF 2016 ranked the institute first in West Bengal amongst the private institutions.
• In the National Education Awards, ABP news awarded the institute as 'Best Business School' in 2017.

The institute also has MOU with some of the leading corporates such as Infosys and WIPRO.

Scholarships

During the pandemic, IEM Foundation USA along with UEM Alumni Association and IEM Alumni Association noted to give the scholarship to thirty qualified present students as well as thirty qualified alumni members. The scholarships included:

• A one-time scholarship is a current semester scholarship that can be attained by qualified regular students.
• A one-time grant of approximately INR 50,000 (USD 700) is the alumni grant given to qualified alumni members who faced massive economic problems during the pandemic.

It should be noted that the scholarships could be attained if the present students or alumni members sent an application along with the cover letter, evidence of loss of job/evidence of Covid-19 hospitalization/evidence of loss of business to the coordinators of respective alumni associations. Based on the applications, the committee of alumni members judged the scholarships and grants.
