IIIT Hyderabad BTech

The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) was established in 1998 in Hyderabad and is now a well-known Deemed to be University. The institute is established under a Not-for-Profit Public Private Partnership with greater emphasis on Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Computer Aided Structural Engineering and Information Technology. The IIIT Hyderabad offers admission to the BTech programmes for National and International students through different modes.

IIIT Hyderabad BTech Application Process 2022

Candidates have to submit an online application to secure admission to the BTech programmes at IIIT Hyderabad.

• Students should give their preferences for the BTech programmes listed on the application portal of the IIIT Hyderabad.
• Changes in the preference of programmes will not be entertained after the end of the application process.
• Students are advised to choose only one programme they wish to join while applying. A programme should not be in the preference list of the students as a placeholder as it denies a seat to another student.
• Students have to submit final board marks of Class XI and XII when available which should indicate marks in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

Note

• The application fee for DASA students is Rs. 6,000/- while it is Rs. 600/- for Special Channel of Admission and Rs. 2,000/- for students applying through JEE Mains.

IIIT Hyderabad BTech Selection Process 2022

Admission to the BTech programmes at IIIT Hyderabad will be provided in the following ways.

Admission Through JEE (Mains) Score

• Students should have appeared for the JEE (Mains) exam and a good percentile in it is mandatory for getting admission to the BTech programmes at IIIT Hyderabad.
• The JEE mode admission process for BTech programmes at IIIT Hyderabad has 100 seats for CSE and 70 seats for ECE. These seats will be divided into two - 75% of the seats will be available under Common Pool while the remaining will be available under Diversity Pool.
• All students are eligible for Common Pool seats while only female students whose score is in the top 1% are eligible for Diversity Pool seats.
• For allocating seats to the BTech programme, a single tank list of all the applicants in the JEE mode will be used.
• During the seat allotment process, seats in Diversity Pool will be filled first and then only female students will be considered for seats available under Common Pool.

Special Channel of Admission

It is a Special Channel of Admission for BTech programmes and is aimed at identifying talented students with challenging situations.

• Students applying for admission to BTech programmes through this mode have to appear for a computer-based test conducted by the IIIT Hyderabad.
• The computer-based exam will test the student's proficiency in the subject.
• The IIIT Hyderabad BTech Special Channel of Admission entrance exam will be held in multiple cities across the country.

Interview

• Candidates short-listed after the computer-based test have to appear for the interview and clear it to secure admission for the BTech programmes at IIIT Hyderabad.
• The final offer of admission for the BTech programmes will be based on the performance of students in the interview only.

DASA - Direct Admission for Students Abroad

• Admissions for BTech programmes at IIIT Hyderabad through DASA will be provided based on SAT scores.
• Primary ranking will be given to the students based on SAT scores.
• If ties exist then the following marks will be used for resolving them.
  • Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (SAT)
  • Maths (SAT)
• If a tie still exists then students will be allocated the same rank and treated on par.

IIIT Hyderabad BTech Fee Structure

The total fee for BTech programmes at IIIT Hyderabad for General category candidates is Rs. 3,30,000/- per annum. The fee details for DASA and General candidates are given below.

Other Category Admissions Except DASA

• The tuition fee for the single degree BTech programmes at IIIT Hyderabad is Rs. 3,30,000/- per annum. It will be revised annually by the institute.
• Apart from tuition fees, students are required to pay hostel charges - approximately Rs. 3,000/- per month and mess charges of approximately Rs. 4,500/- per month.
• These fees have to be paid before the commencement of the semester.

DASA

• The total fee for the academic year 2022-2023 is USD 14,000.
• Hostel and mess charges will be charged on par with the students admitted through admission criteria other than DASA.
• Students who have allocated a seat for BTech admissions should confirm their seat by paying the tuition fee for the first semester before the due date.
• The first-semester tuition fee of 7,000 USD and Rs. 10,000/- admission fee should be paid to confirm their seat.

IIIT Hyderabad BTech Eligibility Criteria 2022

The eligibility requirements for Special Channel of Admission, DASA and Admission Through JEE Mains at IIT Hyderabad for BTech programmes are given below.

Admission Through JEE (Mains)

• Candidates should have completed their Class XII with Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics by July 2022.
• Also, candidates should have appeared for the JEE Mains and a good percentile in it is mandatory.
• For the students who give JEE Mains more than once, the best of their scores will be considered.
• The ties in total percentile exists will be removed by considering the percentile in Maths first and then Physics and then Chemistry from the JEE Mains before ranking the students.
• If any ties exist at the subject level, they will be handled by assigning the same rank to the students. Marks obtained by the students in Class XII have no bearing on seat allotment and ranking.

Special Channel of Admission

• All the students should have passed Class XII or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry by July 2022 and should belong to one of the categories mentioned below.
  • Must have qualified for the UDAAN scheme of CBSE girls.
  • Should have studied at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya for at least the last 2 years.
  • Students who are enrolled in the 4^th Semester of Integrated, sixth year Class XII + BTech programme after Class X.

Direct Admission for Students Abroad (DASA)

• All the interested students must have completed Class XI Class XII or its equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, outside India by June 2022 or
• Hold a foreign passport and complete Class XI and XII with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry from anywhere by June 2022.
• SAT scores are essential for applying for BTech admissions through DASA mode. They must secure an aggregate of at least 1070 out of 1600.
