The foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management was laid by the first Prime Minister of India - Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. IISWBM was established by the then Chief Minister of West Bengal – Dr B. C. Roy in the year 1953. A wide range of research programs, postgraduate diplomas, short programs and degree programs are offered by IISWBM. Some of the distinguished alumni of IISWBM include Mr L.N. Mittal, Mr Sudhir Jalan and Mr Ashok Mukherjee.

About the Course
The 2 years course MBA offered by the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management aims to develop thoughtful and responsible entrepreneurs and leaders. This full-time course is approved by AICTE and awarded by the University of Calcutta. The faculty at IISWBM aspires to provide the students with a high-quality educational experience.
Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management also offers an MBA program (evening). The duration of this course is also 2 years.
The application process that the candidates have to follow for getting admission to the MBA program offered by IISWBM is given below.
Standard Admission process
The aspiring candidates for MBA can go through the standard application process that has 2 options. Here are both the options:
First Option
- Downloading the DL form, and brochure for admissionhttps://www.iiswbm.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/mba_admission_brochure-compressed-21.pdf along with IISWBM/State Bank of India Power Jyoti A/c No. 32495656710 Challan.
- Deposit the amount to SBI against the DL form and Challan properly filled in.
- The candidate has to speed post/courier the application form’s hard copy, payment slip’s copy and other applicable documents to the following address:

The original documents will be required at the time of the personal interview and group discussion.
- In case the application reached the Institute after the given last date then it shall not be entertained.
Second option
- The candidate can collect the admission brochure along with the application form from the reception counter of the Institute through the specified cash payment for the same.
- As per the given last date, issue and submit the filled application form.
Offline application process
Candidates can purchase the application form for INR 1500 in cash from IISWBM. After filling out the form, the candidate can drop it along with other essential documents at the IISWBM drop box or post it to IISWBM given address.
The candidates also have the option to print the application form that is available online. In this case, they need to pay through cash at the IISWBM counter along with submitting of form and other essential documents.
Online application process
Candidates can read the brochure for checking the eligibility criteria and prepare the essential documents that need to be attached. At the time of the application process, the candidates will receive a User id and password through their Email or SMS. They can record it for future purposes. Net banking, credit card or debit card can be used for payment purposes. Afterwards, the candidate can get the application form and payment receipt printed for posting it to IISWBM given address or dropping it at the IISWBM drop box along with other essential documents.
The CAT scores of candidates are received by the Institution from the IIM admission committee. Depending on the cut-off score, candidates are asked to come to the Institute for a group interview and personal interview.
Based on the candidates’ merit, the final list of selected students is prepared.
The candidates who have graduated from any professional course, Honours or equivalent applicants who have scored at least 50% in graduation can apply. In the case of SC/NC-OBC/ST/PWD, the minimum score required for graduation is 45%. Candidates who appeared for their final examination in May 2022 are also eligible for applying.
The total fees for MBA at IISWBM are INR 6 lakhs. Fee details for each year are given below:
1st year

The interested candidates should fulfil the following admission checklist:
- Class 10th and 12th mark sheets
- Bachelor’s degree certificate and Master’s degree certificatehttps://www.iiswbm.edu/programs/degree-programs/mba-two-years-day/admission-checklist/ along with mark sheets. In the case of final year students, the mark sheets for last semester/year should be provided.
- Date of birth proof can be through a birth certificate or Class 10th admit card or Aadhar card or passport.
- Registration form for CAT/GMAT
- Certificate for ST/SC/NC-OBC in case applicable
- Certificate for physical disability in case applicable
- Certificate for below poverty line in case applicable
Admission process for NRI/Foreign/PIO Students
Candidates who are from abroad can apply by sharing details regarding their academic background along with their passport's certified copy and other essential documents. GMAT/comparable score is looked-for. The admission process can be considered subject to bachelor's degree qualifications and other requirements of the University of Calcutta.

Important dates for admission schedule 2022-2024
Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management has multiple partners in progress, to name a few, TATA, Reliance Industries Limited, Asian Paints, EY, HSBC and ICICI Bank.
According to the data for the year 2022, the placement record for MBA (day) observed 94% of the students placed, with the highest CTC being 15LPA, average CTC being 8LPA and median salary being 7.5LPA.
The various disciplines from which the students were recruited included finance, marketing, POM, HR and BASM. Few of the various profiles from these disciplines included credit analyst, relationship manager, systems analyst and wealth manager.
IISWBM is ranked by different organizations. The Institution is the first premier B-school located in Southeast Asia. Here are some details about the rank allotted to the Institution:

There are two semesters in the first year of MBA at IISWBM and 2 semesters in the second year along with a summer project in between. Both the first and second semesters have 9 compulsory papers each. In between the second and third semesters, students have to do a summer project. In the third semester, there are 6 papers out of which 3 are compulsory and 3 are specialization papers. In the last semester, there are 5 papers out of which 2 are compulsory and 3 are specialization papers. Students are required to do project work, dissertation and Viva-Voce as a part of their course.

Scholarships
The last date for submitting the online application under the All India Council for Technical Education PG Scholarship Scheme got extended to 28th February 2021. Further, 15th March 2021 is the last date for the verification of the student by the Institution including re-submitted defective applications at the AICTE Web Portal.
Loan Facilities
The Institute provides a certificate to the candidates desiring a loan from the bank that has floated with the 'loan scheme' referring that the applicant in Institute's bona fide student.
