The School of Open Learning, formerly known as The School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education was established under the University of Delhi in 1962 and is one of the oldest institutes of open learning in the country. The School enrolled more than two lakh students in the academic session 2006-2007. The School offers Undergraduate/Postgraduate Degree courses in the subjects of Arts/Humanities and Commerce.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The admission process is primarily conducted online. The admission can be performed through the School of Open Learning website for all courses and categories, while the facility of offline admissions is extended to people of the Persons with Disability (PWD) category only. For more details regarding this, refer to the under graduate prospectus.

For online admissions, visit the School of Open Learning website https://sol.du.ac.in . Register yourself by entering your name, working email address and mobile phone number. You will then receive a password to your email ID and your phone. Then, log in using the email ID you registered with as your username, and the password you received. You will come to a page marked ‘Course Details.’ Enter the fields in this area and click the ‘Save’ button. Proceed further.

If you are a CBSE/ NIOS or ICSE candidate, enter your year of passing and exam roll number and click on the ‘Check’ button. Enter the personal details and save them. Choose your subject, and again save it. Next, you come to a page where you are required to upload scanned copies of self attested documents. The documents you need to upload and their specifications are mentioned below. Please go through them carefully and identify the documents you need to upload on the portal.

(i) Students passed from CBSE 2016 (Delhi Region, opted compulsory languages courses as English A or B/ Hindi A or B/Punjabi A/ Urdu A/ Tamil A of the B.Com and B.A. Programme have to upload following documents: Recent Photograph and Signature

Other educational documents will not be uploaded at the time of admission. However, on demand, it will be produced or uploaded as per requirement.

(ii) Students passed from CBSE 2016 (Delhi Region, opted compulsory languages courses as English-C/Hindi-C/Punjabi-B/Urdu-B/Tamil-B of the B.Com and B.A. Programme and student applying for B. Com (Hons.) Pol. Sci. have to uploaded following documents: Recent Photograph and Signature, Self Attested copy of Class-X Marks sheet, Self Attested copy of Class- 12 Marks sheet.

(iii) For Students from other than CBSE Boards, CBSE compartment cases and CBSE (Non-Delhi Region) have to upload the following documents: Recent Photograph and Signature, Self Attested copy of Class-X Certificate and Marks sheet, Self Attested copy of Class-12 Certificate and Marks sheet (current students can send scanned copy of the Provisional Certificate), Scanned copy of Migration Certificate ( if the candidates studied from boards other than Delhi like NIOS, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan etc.)

(iv) Students applying against the reserved (SC/ST/OBC/PWD/etc.) and BPL category have to upload the following documents, as applicable, in addition to the above mentioned documents – Self Attested copy of Reverse Category Certificate of the candidates only, if applicable (SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc. candidates) certificate of the candidate must be have been issued before the date of admission, Self attested copy of Original Income Certificate, if applying for fee concession/Financial Assistance, Self attested copy of BPL/AAY Ration Card, if applying for Financial Assistance.

Please note the following important details about size and dimensions of the scanned files –

  • The digital size of the file of the photographs must be more than 4 kb and less than 24 kb with resolution of 100 pixel width and 120 pixel height (.jpg format).
  • The signature must be uploaded in jpg format. The digital size of the signature file must be more than 1 kb and less than 12 kb with resolution of 40 pixel width by 60 pixel height (.jpg format)
  • The digital size of the file other than Photograph and Signature (like 10th Mark sheet, 12th Mark sheet, 12th Certificate, etc) must be less than 2 MB(.pdf format)

After uploading the necessary documents, go through all the entered information and check its authenticity. Read the declaration and click on the check box. Proceed by clicking the ‘Verify’ button. Select your payment method (Credit card/ debit card or net banking) and pay the fee. After successful payment of fee, your SOL roll number and fee receipt is generated. Take a print out of the fee receipt for proof and future reference. Click on ‘Print ID Card’ to view and print the ID card.

Admission to Postgraduate Courses at SOL opens in the months of August – September and is advertised in the leading National Newspapers. The date and availability of the Prospectus is specified in the advertisement. The students are required to submit the attached forms duly completed along with the supporting documentation as specified in the Prospectus. The Prospectus can be obtained either from the Main Center at North Delhi Campus or from the South Study Center at South Moti Bagh, New Delhi.

FEE STRUCTURE

The fee structure for the undergraduate programs, in INR, is mentioned below. Note that the fees mentioned below are for students residing in India. For foreign students, refer to the under graduate prospectus available on School of Open Learning website.

  • BA Programme – 3430
  • Com. – 3530
  • Com. (Hons.) – 3830
  • A. (Hons.) English – 3530
  • A Political Science – 3630

In addition to the above tuition fee, some other fee is also to be paid as follows :-

  • School fee and other charges – 2020
  • Enrollment fee – 200
  • University development fee – 600

Examination fee –

  • A. Programme – 610
  • M.Com. – 710
  • Com. (Hons.) – 1010
  • A. (Hons.) English – 710
  • A Political Science – 810

An additional amount of Rs. 2200 will be charged by the female students who opt for Home Science as a subject in BA (Programme). A library security fee of Rs. 200 also needs to be deposited, which is refundable.

The fee structure for post graduate courses is given as follows-

  • All MA courses – 4990
  • M.Com. – 5140

In addition to the above tuition fee, the following fee are also payable by the student.

  • School fee and other charges – 3430

  • University development fee – 600

IMPORTANT DATES/ ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The key dates for undergraduate admissions are as mentioned below for the session 2017-18. Please refer to the following schedule for admissions.

  • Online availability of prospectus – 1st June 2017
  • Last date of receipt of admission form without late fee – 31st July 2017
  • Last date of receipt of admission form with late fee of Rs. 100 – 31st August
  • Last date of receipt of admission form with late fee of Rs. 200 – 15th September
  • Availability of identity card from SOL website – 31st October
